Hi,
I'm looking for adigital voice recorder. It is to record music lessons. The recording quality has to be high enough for speech recognition and be in stereo. Playback must offer variable speed. It also needs to be portable. The best one out there for music (I.M.O.) is the Zoom H4n, but it is far from being portable. I would prefer something a bit lighter (and less expensive).
I was recommanded an Olympus recorder by a friend (that's what he uses). Two models look promissing, the WS-510M (4GB or the WS-500M with 2GB) and the Dm-520 (4GB or DM-420 with 2GB). The problem is that (1) I can't find a brochure to compare features of each models (even on Olympus' Web Site) and (2) I can't find these models in a local store (in Ottawa). None of the usual electronic stores (BB, FS, Staples, etc) carry anything but the basic recorders and the sales people don't know what they're talking about.
It seems to make more sence to purchase a smaller memory capacity unit (2GB vs 4 GB), save money and purchase a SDHC card. Of course, there is a big difference in price between the few canadian online retailers that I could find (NCIX for example) and US retailers (about 25% less on the DM-520).
Would anyone have more information on these or other units and where would be the best place to purchase one?
Thanks to all.
