Hello,
my in-laws live in a new semi-detached home. Just this evening, they noticed that they can hear snoring from the other side from their master bedroom.

Is there anything that can be done? Is it coming through the walls, or from the attic, or both?

Is there different methods to soundproof a room from sounds hearde audibly, verses sounds heard that are like vibrations (e.g., hard running)?

Any suggestions, especially from those who have solved similar problems, is much appreciated!!

Thanks

White noise. A fan or humidifier, or there are some white noise machines.

You could open up the wall and insulate it with noise dampening insulation. However, this is an expensive option.

Like others have said, white noise or ear plugs are much cheaper options.

Look into putting in that noise-reducing insulation. If u can hear snoring, u can hear fights and vocal sex, or maybe phone convos. Plus, THEY CAN ALSO HEAR YOUR SOUNDS.

New semi..... I would file a warranty claim thru Tarion. I would like to know what they would have to say. Tarion to me, represents the builders, not really new home owners.

Some semi's are divided by cement blocks(maybe fire code), others by nothing.

I guess you could rip down the drywall, and soundproof it and put up new drywall called quietrock.
