Looks like a good price for the specs. I have never dealt with DirectDial. Are they any good?

$350-$20 pizza pizza coupon. OOS everywhere.

To be fair, OP's has a big case, the bestbuy one has a tiny slim case.

I think he knows about the BB one.

I guess OP is just to trying to prove the previous BestBuy's Acer Deal was HOT.

Yes, I was aware of the Best Buy deal, but that one is gone. I don't dwell on the past like some .
I think the larger case/power supply will make this one far more expandable for the future. The slim factor looks to be a pain on the Best Buy deal.

Anyone have any experiences with DirectDial? Good? Bad? The return policy appears quite restrictive.

It looked like self-promotion, but maybe I am wrong. If so, I apologize, but it did bring up a few other good comments for comparison nonetheless :)

Luke warm if it were $100 less.

I am curious as to what other deals out there are better right now? I am looking for a computer with similar specs, and I can't seem to find anything better. Any help would be great!

Could be a possible price match at NCIX? They are selling for $680.

My BB Quad from last week's deal is probably going back tomorrow unless someone in Montreal wants to take it off my hands.

First of all you should know;

1. It was an open box and is missing one filler plate
2. It has a 640 Gig HD for some reason
3. It was initialised in French and cannot be changed without a clean load
4. I have the restore disks for the French and have loaded it with Vista in English without a key (because it won't take the OEM key on the unit).

It'd cost whomever buys it what I paid . . . the 100 km I drove to pick it up are free.

I'm in the West Island.

It IS very fast.

PM me.

I had one of the BB Q8300's for ISPU yesterday (Belleville) and gave it up to an RFD member. He picked it up yesterday.

For ~$500 you can pretty much build your own and it would be better.

$170 Q8300
$100 Mobo (likely better than any OEM mobo)
$80 4GB DDR3 RAM
$20 DVDRW
$120 Case and PSU (Sonata III w 500w PSU - good stuff)
$50 HDD
-----
$540

And you could likely pare down some of the costs in there.

Yeah, no OS, but you can get Windows 7 for $40 if you know what you're doing (student deal). I actually got my copy for $30 with a friend's US university email :)

That's $200 plus taxes MORE than the BB deal (plus the OS).

Plain and simple...

The BB deal was a core 2 quad... and was a better deal.
Only con is that is was a SFF and has a 220w PSU.

I think you can reinstore the English Vista from the Hidden Partition by pressing Alt + F10 when booting. I've never try it myself, you can check Acer's support for more information.

yes, BB's deal actually comes with a 640G HD instead of the listed 500 HD.

yes it is $200 more than the BB deal. I was commenting on the subject deal of this thread, a $508 Quad Core PC.

For me, the BB deal wasn't worth bothering with, as I already have a spare Sonata II case/PSU and HDD. If I bought the BB machine I'd be pulling the components out, putting it into a spare case and adding my XFX 9800GT to it for gaming/general use.

For the same $350 I can walk into any computer store and buy the same CPU, better mobo and 4GB DDR3 RAM. Plunk it in my spare case with HDD and a $20 DVDRW and I'm done. I wasn't going to drive 3 hours round trip to pick this thing up only to discard the case/PSU it came with.

So if someone was after a complete PC for an HTPC (although I heard it was noisy) or something, then $350 is a good deal.
