HI I live in a semi-detached house but can't get in the house through garage. How much approx (range) should i expect to pay technician to break the wall to build an indoor entrance thru garage?
Thanks

Depends if the wall between the house and garage is load bearing, if you have to break through concrete, if there is any wiring in the way.. many factors.

I would say anywhere from $700.00 to $3000.00 depending on obsticles, material of door, etc. Remember that a permit is needed before work begins.

I believe that it has to be a special door and the wall will have to be altered. I think the door needs to be self closing and fire rated and the wall will have to be altered so it will have a higher fire rating as well.
Many times the garage door is external and close to the front door to avoid having to do this additional work and expense.

Umm.. you are making an opening in a wall, between the house and the garage. You will be removing structure, framing a proper opening for a door, maybe moving electrical wires. Of course you need a permit. Well, "technically" anyway. :P

Building permits are obtained from the building department of your city. They can take weeks to get approved, so bring drawings showing what you intend to do, the more detail, the better. your contractor can also obtain such a permit, at least the legitimate ones can.

Hurts, doesn't it.
