I went to Sportchek last year and got some 'The North Face' liner gloves for when I go snowboarding that are pretty durable. They're fabric gloves with this plasticky rubber spiderman pattern on the inside of the fingers/palms that helps you grip things. $20. I don't know if they still sell them though, because they were just in boxes in the clearance bin.

Check out MEC. They sell thin layer gloves that are made of thinsulate. Similar to the $1 glove, but stitched closer together and hold in heat from your hands well.
I believe arund $10
They wont fuzz up like those cheap $1 gloves as well.

There's some around ~$10 and one of them is exactly $10. Which one is he referring to? There are many.

i have a pair of Black Diamond Windweight Liner Gloves from MEC
it's not waterproof, but the Polartec Windbloc fabric blocks 100% of the wind so it totally eliminates the windchill effect

I have a pair of North Face fleece ones that have leather at the finger tips... it works all right.
My leather pair from Holts, though, is a lot better for the cold winds.
