I just saw this posted on the GM Canada website
http://www.gm.ca/gm/english/corporate/offers/pbgyearend/overview?adv=91741
"....This Holiday Season, Pontiac, Buick and GMC are feeling especially generous.
For a limited time, get up to $9,000 in delivery allowances and a $1000 Holiday Cash Bonus with any 2010 Pontiac, Buick or GMC vehicle, including:
* The 2010 Buick LaCrosse, winner of the J.D. Power Quality Award*
* The 2010 GMC Terrain, with best-in-class fuel efficiency**
* The spacious and fuel efficient Pontiac Vibe
Visit a dealer and treat yourself this holiday season with a new Pontiac, Buick or GMC vehicle..."
Not sure if this is a hot deal ? Has anyone tried this yet ? Any details on what the dealer is offering ?
I am going to the my GMC Dealer this week. I will post my feedback on what they say and what they offer with regards to this deal.

I am thinking about a GMC Terrain.
Not sure which vehicles qualify for
(i) $9,000 in delivery allowances
(ii) $1000 Holiday Cash Bonus
But, from reading the ad..it looks like the offer should be valid with any "any 2010 Pontiac, Buick or GMC vehicle..."

Looks to me that the $9000 applies only to the pick-ups listed. $9000 + $1000 off on an equinox and I might consider it.

I just tried a build & price on the GMC web site, for a GMC Terrain it said Cash Credit: N/A for me.
(Montreal location).
Wonder if they going to change it. It was one I want to try with the Jeep Patriot Limited.

Man I really really hate to say this cause I've always hated GM products but even I must admit that the new Lacrosse is actually a better looking car than the ES350. Resale is another issue altogether, but if it can come in at $15k less than the Lexus, then resale is moot... Heck even new Ford products have my attention. The only Big 3 company that is still churning out only crap is Chrysler hahaha...

Why would Gm temper with success and a cheaper labour cost ? and build it in NA?
Seems illogical but things do happen illogically.Govt handout/corporate welfare?

GM may be under certain agreements (with their union or the government) about the level of production in North America.

It is by volumes...remember you have to consider duties, shipping via overseas, etc will add onto cost of car, and it is cheaper to build locally. Plus the newly done GM plants are done to handle quick switch overs to build any vehicles pending on platforms.

Not confirmed officially but the oshawa plant has started to recieve the stamping dies for the regal .. Soooooooo.... pretty sure this will be a Canadian built car....
On another note .. seeing how GM hasn't started to advertize "Canadian Pricing" with the Canuk $ so high these prices should be across the board soon when the call goes out for prices that mimic the US prices soon...If the $ stays high they will try and thwart crossboarder shopping anytime soon again I would think ....

The funny thing is, apparently Buick is a highly-sought car brand in China, and carries as much esteem as say BMW or Lexus in N. America.
But I still can't get around the stigma of driving my "grandpa's car". I DO like the LaCrosse's design over the ES350 though.

I think there's a contract between GM and the CAW that cars with these names:
Regal
Allure
Grand Prix
Impala
Firebird / Trans-Am
Camaro
LaCrosse
must be built in Canada. I remember hearing about this some time ago.

Dead wrong. The car has been out of production since late August, and dealers have received their final allocations 2 months ago. Inventory is getting thin and will only get thinner. If you want a specific model with a specific colour, you better make it quick. In fact, my dealer has only 2 left and told me dealers are trading them with each other since many have none left on their lots.
I bought my 2010 Vibe in August, a base 1SA model. Paid $16350 OTD. The same car is about $19,000 OTD today. The rebates are actually much worse then they were back then. I got $2500 GM rebate plus the $1000 loyalty rebate and another $600 off with the CCC report. The car is fantastic so far.

Was just at a local GMC Dealer. The will give you a $1000 cash credit on the purchase of a 2010 GMC Terrain....that was the model that I was interested in...not that great of a deal...this $1000 cash credit does not show up when you price a Terrain online through GM's website. GM's was also offering 3.9% financing rate for 60 months..again ok deal..but not hot.

GM may be under certain agreements (with their union or the government) about the level of production in North America.
When it launches, the North American-market Buick Regal will be assembled alongside the Opel Insignia in Rüsselsheim, Germany. However, it was previously reported in Canada's National Post that GM would build this Insignia-based Regal at its Oshawa, Ontario plant, as a way to convince the Canadian government to grant the struggling automaker $2.4 billion in financial aid.

esp since GM raised prices on its car a lot like the Buick Lacrosse 2010 vs 2009.
I see a lot of these in the dealer's lot but none on the street(with confusing nomenclature to boot some called Lacrosse some labelled Allure for exactly the same car) Imagine a Bankrupt co. having the gall : raising its car prices instead lowering it to regain market share!

+1 on the quantities thinning out. They did stop production on the Vibes in August.
I just found out about the rebates on the Vibes and bought up a Vibe 1SB for $19,500 plus tax today. Not the best deal, but not the worst either. I couldn't find any blue Vibes with 5-speed MT in the GTA; they had to order one for me.
My invoice read ~$3850 in rebates. There's currently a $1500 rebate that expires Nov 30 but I'm guessing that they will only get better in December as Pontiac tries to clear out all of its inventory. The problem is that you'll have to take whatever models they have left - currently the vast majority of 2010 Vibes in Canada (or at least the GTA) are grey and black (which is more of a gunmetal color) - both of which looked too drab to me. And, of course, the vast majority of Vibes left are all automatic transmission.

Congrats on your new Vibe. The Navy Blue is a great colour when it's clean. A comparable Matrix is over $2000 more then what you paid so you did pretty well. I doubt the incentives will get better, the cars are selling just fine with the present discounts and inventory is even thinner then when I last posted. These are 2010 models after all and no real panic to liquidate them. An inventory search here in Montreal shows almost no inventory and certainly no manuals transmission cars.

Bought a 2010 Equinox LS with these promotions. Went to several dealers, haggled over and over.
Finally, best I could get was $700 off MSRP, $1000 New Toy New Joy incentive, $800 off for graduate, and $1000 off from Visa Points.
Only problem, had to order it, as nobody has them in stock. Apparenlty they are selling really well.

the Lacrosse is selling really well, from their production numbers and sales. You don't see them much just like the camaro cause it is all going to states, plus in canada it takes a while before it filters on to roads. crap, in the states it is all priced well lol

Thanks for the kudos. I just got the car today because they had to drive it from up north to here :(. Worth it for the blue though. I'll post back after I've done some real driving on it!
---------
A couple of notes: I ended up saving another $800 for GM's 'recent graduate' program, but that was offset by my administration/registration fees. This is my first new car, and they snuck a $495 Administration fee and $379 registration fee/ "green package" under my nose. Do those prices sound normal or high? Did I get taken on those? I started looking around and it seems that many people are getting charged administration fees, but $500 sounds high!

Those are made up fees that add to the dealer's bottom line. When negotiating a car, negotiate the grand total, on the road price to avoid these sneaky, unnecessary fees. If you needed new plates, that should only cost $130ish.
A dealer got me with that administration fee a few years ago... When I bought a car this year, another dealer tried to tack on a $495 admin fee. I asked them to explain how processing paper work equates to $495 dollars, but they couldn't. Man I hate car salespeople... :)

In my case, I negotiated an out the door price of $16,350. I didn't care if he charged $1000 in admin fees/green fees/other fees or how it was structured as that was the absolute most I was going to pay. Needed to walk out twice to get that price. In the end, there was a "cost of delivery fee" of $245. I could have done better if I was eligible for the grad rebate but unfortunately my school days ended years ago. Overall, pretty satisfied with both the car and the price.
