Long story, semi-short:

Earlier this afternoon, I drove instead of the hubby ( using my set of keys) and dropped him off at the front of the store so he could do a return. The hubby planned to drive after he finished his return. While waiting for him, I decided to semi-clean around the front seats of the car. While being pissed and cleaning his car again* with gas receipts and napkins tucked in unnecessary areas ( visually unpleasant), I decided to take out my keys walked around to the passenger side and continued to clean that side. While opening up the passenger door, I remembered placing the keys on the roof while being pissed at seeing more gas and other receipts jammed at the side of the door. ( Why was I pissed, because I clearly cleaned the car not too long ago, and yet he can't keep things "organize"... how ironic.)

He finished and went straight to the driver side while I was busy cleaning. He used his set of keys and plugged it into the starter. I saw him and was really annoyed at the whole thing. I got into the passenger seat while I told him that I was unhappy how the car went from "lick-able clean" to a "receipt explosion" within a span of a month. And then....we drove away while the keys was still on the roof.

Did not notice the keys were missing until I changed handbags for this evening's event. That's when I started to mentally panic. We canceled the event and drove back to the area (replaying today's event in my head).. it's no where to be found..yet..

sorry to hear that you lost your keys, hope someone is nice enough to return it for you.

Try going into the store and ask the manager or a worker if someone left your keys there.

We drove back to the route and I replayed the scenario in my head in detail. Went into the surrounding stores and asked.. it's no where to be found. My bank card is in the pouch. Hopefully the person who found it will be nice enough to return it to the nearest branch and crossing fingers that the branch will be nice enough to contact me by finding me through the card #. Such a sleepless night last night :(.

On another note, I like the LS avatar you have there.

My Dad did the same thing with a box of Timbits during a family road trip in 1985, I still haven't gotten over it.

Good luck, you never know, sometimes these things have a way of working out.

About 100 CD's of hard to find drum n bass tracks.

Yep, i'm a forgetful chump.

One time I ordered Wendy's and I had my hands full and left my drink on top the car so that I can open the door. When I got home I realized I forgot my drink, so I had to eat my Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger with water. WATER! ugh

It might have stayed on top of the car for a little while before falling off... I remember my sister did a similar thing (she even had similar keys in a leather pouch) and it stayed on top of that car until we got to an intersection and a guy on a motorcycle knocked on the window and passed the keys to us.

Did you try walking down the street and looking?

Things will happen. However, it's probably a good idea to avoid keeping anything with your address (eg. driver's license) with house keys, 'cuz u would have to either move or change all the locks!

So you were so upset at your husband leaving napkins and receipts lying around INSIDE the car that you left your keys and bank cards lying around ON TOP of the car.

I'm sure he's got too much tact to point that little fact out, but on his behalf I hereby solemnly declare: HA HA.

Well thank goodness she got her keys back :o.

we went and walked down the street looking for it, I went into nearby shops and asked if anyone found a set of keys in a key holder pouch.... No where to be found... yet...

Oh BB, good for you for reading my post :). I guess you missed the part where i mentioned "how ironic".

It's not like I've stopped kicking myself for this, but the hubby already took dibs already - so get in line :).

sorry to hear about your keys, but it reminds me of the time my dad left a coffee on his rear bumper - drove from Scarborough to Mississauga on the 401 and when he got there it was still on the bumper!!!

Thanks >:(,

what the heck? Was there a dent in his rear bumper? A dent size of a cup holder? j/k.

Joking aside, I drove the car last evening and did a mini test with a small rectangular item on the moon roof. After making a couple of sharp u-turns ( that's what the hubby did right after the key holder was on top of the roof). the tested item was still on the roof. o_O

From the stretch of birchmount to pharmacy; the last possible place I could think of for the key holder to be gone: the automated car wash. Hopefully it's there and management will call me. :|.
