why is the price of memory shot up? and when can we expect it to go down, or where can I buy some now cheap?

DDR3 is pretty new and still considered a premium type of memory so its gonna be a lot more expensive than DDR2. You should be able to find some 3X2GB sticks for around 140ish though.
Or look for sales and combos to lower the price. And you might considered waiting for Black Friday which is soon or even boxing day if u can wait that long.

lol ... I don't think DDR3 is consider premium anymore all at.
Anyway I've also noticed the rather large jump in ram prices and IMO it's becuase of the Windows 7 release; check out all the new laptops ... 4GB of ram seems to be the norm and most systems now with 4-6gb of ram also. The summer was the best time to by ram, but the prices will go down again .. always comes in waves.

All memory has gone up...our cost...by almost 50% more. It won't go down any time soon from what the wholesalers tell us.
