SPC stands for Student Price Card I believe. It is for...well...students and very useful one. It gives you discounts on a LOT of very common stores and restaurants up to even 30%. I love it and I always use it. You can get it from any zellers, SDM, Walmart etc... but you need to present your student card if you are a student.

Hope this helped :-)

There is also a VIP version that many of us got by subscribing to Lou Lou magazine. You don't have to be a student for the VIP card.

Well, the family pak usually costs about $28.xx after tax, so you're basically paying an extra $9.00 (w/ tax) for cranberry sauce, stuffing and four(?) B1G1 coupons. If you go to the restaurant on a semi-regular basis, it's a decent deal.

All of you people looking for a portuguese chicken deal, try California on McMurchy just north of Queen in Brampton. For $30 you get 2 whole chickens, large rice, medium little potatoes, large sauce(hot, medium, mild), and 8 mini buns. Much better deal that SC, and tastes great!!!

I have one of the coupons here with me (they put them on the lower flap of the Lindor chocolate pack). It says it's good for Dining Room only.

Bought their family festive pack tonight. Ended up buying a 4-pack of drinks for the family (which pushed the price up to over $40) but it was really good. I'll have to check out this Portuguese place the last poster mentioned, though.

I think Swiss Chalet was giving toblerone bars because it was representing Swiss chocolate...or the Swiss alps (as on the cover of toblerone)...even the chocolate pieces looked like Swiss mountains (alps). So i guess because both have Swiss in their theme...is Lindt swiss chocolate by any chance?

I love Lindt but don't know the origin.

There are a few Portuguese Churrasqueira's in Richmond Hill and Maple. They are much better and a lot cheaper than Swiss Chalet 100%. On Major Mac between Jane & Keele there is a place called Red Rooster which is great.

You can also do a quick google search on Portuguese BBQ Chicken or Portuguese Churrasqueira in your area to check if you have any closer to you.

all the portguese chicken places near me are more $$ than swiss chalet. I wish Nando's was cheaper and half the price. I like portguese chicken more myself.

Also, swiss chalet's chicken is like 2x the size as the portugese places (prolly maple leaf chicken vs free range?), but point is, i need double the portion at portugese places to match a swiss chalet serving.

Nandos does not qualify as an authentic Portuguese chicken place to me and you're right it is way to expensive and not as good. It is worth the drive to Red Rooster if you live close to Nandos.

If I'm not mistaken, the Toblerone bar is actually supposed to represent the Matterhorn in Switzerland (although the mountain isn't nearly as symmetrical, lol).

This discussion brings back memories of visiting the Cailler chocolate factory near Gruyere a few years ago. For 4 CHF you got the tour and unlimited tastings. Couldn't maximize the experience, though -- not only did the samples start tasting the same after a few bites (nothing to wash them down, lol), but the other visitors were more keen on continuing the tour than lingering in the showroom! ;)

If you think Swiss Chalet's chicken is larger, then these Portuguese places must have really small chickens as I have been finding the Swiss Chalet chickens getting smaller and smaller, same with the KFC chicken. All so small now. Not worth the money.

I find the portion size at SC is considerably smaller than it use to be. The half chicken combo is now served on a smaller round plate instead to the oval plate that it use to be served on now to long ago.

recently i went to Markville Mall swiss chalet and ordered the dark meat but the leg/thigh was the size of a small chicken wing. i should have complained about the size as it was ridiculous compared to what the leg size use to be. it was about 1/3 the size of what the leg/thigh use to be at that location.

Just finished a Festive Special now. For $12+ after tax, it certainly should have been bigger than it was -- not that I was surprised either (basically paying a $3 premium for the stuffing, cranberry sauce, and Lindt chocolates). Too much stuffing (bigger than the chicken, lol) and too little cranberry sauce (it came in a little plastic cup I usually see reserved for soy sauce).

Nando's is overpriced too, but at least last year I won several $25 GCs for them so it was a "free" blind buy. Probably wouldn't go again, though. Too bad there isn't a decent mainstream chicken franchise around here.

Yeah, when I was a teenager I went to Switzerland and visited a chocolate factory with the same tour you had...can't remember the name of the factory though. their portions are shrinking with the chicken and fries. their price keep creeping up along with extra charge if you want only white meat in a 1/4 meal. they've also cut out soup as a side with the family meal deal and reduced the takeout soup size from 12oz to 8oz yet they still charge $3.99 .. unreal. we only get takeout from there 1/3 as much as we used to.

This is the factory I visited: http://main.cailler.ch/en/vis/default.asp. It's in Broc in the west end of the country. Seems they just closed up a few weeks ago to move to a new facility opening in April. And yes, the tour ended in the store section but as goJays said that's probably not proof enough it was the one you went on, lol.

The other Swiss chocolate factory tour I'm aware of is the Lindt & Sprüngli factory tour in Zurich, although I didn't do it myself.

I'd prefer to have the Toblerone.

I'd also prefer that Swiss Chalet brought back their old, round and toasted dinner rolls. They was tasty.

North American Lindt sucks.

You won't convince me to buy their damned Festive meal with its Stove Top and canned Ocean Spray cranberry.

When I go to SC, it's usually the one in Hamilton on Upper James. Save my money on the festive meal and go next door to Denningers to get some good, imported, chocolate.

I just ordered the festival quarter chicken last night, personally I don't find the stuffing / cranberry / chocolate worth the extra $3, but the BOGO free coupon attracted me to the deal. Probably a one time deal, no point gathering a bunch of coupons which I can only use in January.

I probably eat at SC 5-7x a year, but only because I get to use SPC as well, I find it too pricey otherwise.

It's not a proper Lindt box, just a little cardboard thing from Swiss Chalet with slots and tabs that folds up into a mock house. It's a cute (but cheap) way of presenting your dessert, that doubles as the coupon.

I'll bet that this is some takeout place. You seem to dense to understand that Swill Chalet is real restaurant with the costs of real restaurant. You can't expect restaurants that provide an environment with waiters, etc to charge the same as fast food places.

Besides, things are usually cheaper way out in the boondocks like Brampton. Add the cost of gas and time and trouble, and the Swill Chalet up the road is cheaper.
