has anyone tried this gym before? Just like to know how busy if it gets on weeknights and weekends compared to other gyms cuz I don't want to be waiting too long for each equipment

Thanks,

I used to go there during lunch hours, and sometimes after work (4pm), but I can't say anything about other hours, sorry.

The gym is pretty solid in terms of equipment, use of space, and a clean facility. It has a nice pool (lots of classes though), and good showers.

I'd ask them to try it out first if you're curious. there's always that 10 day before cancellation thing.

If it helps, my guess is that it's not as busy as the other locations (I've been to North york [very busy], Thornhill [very busy], Pape, Dundas, Wellington, Hwy400, Whitby (not so busy), as Pickering is a remote location.

Good gym, too crowded during peak hours, not as nice as other Extremes.

Thanks,

been a member of this gym for about 3+ years now and im very happy with the service.

- very clean, sometimes the cleaning people actually clean the equipment/vacuum the carpets etc. right in front of you ... ive been in other gyms and have yet to see a gym this clean. if im not mistaken they have 2 guys basically cleaning after people and maintaining the club's cleanliness all day.

- im only paying $40 a month taxes included, id go for the very basic membership, dont even bother with the towel service etc.

- very recently opened an independent chiropractic/phys. therapy/massage therapy etc. clinic IN the gym ( Multicare Health i think its called ), haven't been to them so i can't tell you how good or bad they are

- you rarely have to wait for equipment, its a pretty well equipped gym, new equipment, and if one goes down its back up in running condition in a day or two, they have a swimming pool, sauna, TONS of free fitness classes/yoga etc., a whole upper floor of treadmills, ellipticals, stepping machines, bikes with TVs on them

- i would say the peak of business would be around 6PM ( but still not a problem in terms of waiting for equipment ) i go around 8pm personally ... least amount of people about 1PM

- if you CANT concentrate if there are ridiculously hot women working out within your eyesight then dont come to this gym ... just keep in mind ( like someone else said in this thread ) you come to the gym to workout, not to stare at girls ...

i would recommend this gym to anyone ... Peace

I would do a Google search of Extreme Fitness and read the horror stories before signing up.

It looks like they have adopted the old Premier/Curzons business/scam model.

Too bad as I'm moving to the Danforth in January and there's an EF location right next door.

EDIT: Thread here on RFD that mentions the BS:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems most of the horror stories are of people who wanted to cancel shortly after they joined or before the one year is up. I don't condone the tactics they employ, but really though, if you can't make the commitment for a year, don't sign up. It's a legal contract. Also, assuming you know what you're doing in a gym, let them know that. I noticed that they didn't even try to sell me PT time or put me through any tests when they signed me up. I see all the newbies going through this though since I've join. I guess they didn't see me as a sucker, so they didn't waste their time on me.

In terms of the EF facilities, I can only speak of the relatively new location downtown on Richmond and it's pretty nice. I've been to other gyms with better equipment but it's adequate. There's always eye candy when I work out there around 7pm. It's a good thing. :cheesygri
