Hi,

We are currently in the process of procuring contractor quotes for a bathroom reno project.

For the first time, someone has recommended we use vinyl board in the bathtub/shower area instead of greenboard or concrete board.

What is vinyl board and is it recommended in the bathroom?

Thanks.

was he referring to something like Denshield? this stuff is similar to drywall with a gypsum core and acrylic surface. Even though Denshield is easier to install, I always go with cement board

Hmm... possibly... others have mentioned denshield but I didn't realize it had that trait of having an acrylic heat cured coating. It didn't dawn on me that this is what he may be talking about. I will have to confirm with him.

But I asked him a name brand so that I can research it and he didn't know... and googling "vinyl board" wasn't very useful. Shouldn't he have known denseshield?
