What's the best way to cancel my data plan, and avoid the cancellation $100 fee? I'm a full time student, lost my part time job so i can't afford this anymore. HELP!

The $400 is to cancel voice.
He wants to cancel data plan.

hazedragon45:
No, sorry you can't. You have to pay $100+tax if you want to cancel. No other way. Or just find another job. Since you said it was part-time, what's stopping you to get another job and pay for data? The most expensive data plan Rogers has is $30/month which is dollar a day.

Or you could sell your phone and get something lesser...since you won't be needing data anymore.

do all smart phones bought from rogers have to come with a data plan? even if your signing a 3 year contract with a voice family plan?

I'm guessing by 'best' you mean to say 'free'?

There is none. Well-there is...but it's not guaranteed. In all my years of term decf adventures, I've only twice been able to get my friends lines' out of it :D when dealing with Customer Service. Boy what a delight though.

Simply banks on getting a n00b who goofs up. Simple as that. Please don't pm expecting anything more...there isn't. Each time it happened It blew my mind how it was happening LMAO.

did they at least appreciate what you have done?
i've done it only once for a "friend" or just someone i knew for a long time
he has no idea about anything especially technology, and can sign a 10 year contract if somebody offers him a free RAZR.

anyways, i got him out of 3 year contract because he was moving to another province (pretended to be him and in calm manner explained the situation to relations rep)
not a thank you, no anything. i was pretty shocked. just a "cool, so i dont have to pay them? cool"

Should have let that leecher's credit history get ruined cause he wasn't going to pay it.

^ so...you called rogers, said the person was changing provinces, and they waived the entire ecf? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. That's probably thee craziest thing I've ever heard...well no the guy on hofo who claims he got SIX GHOST 3GS's mailed to him completely by glitch (IE not on his account at ALL)...now THAT'S crazy .

Just so it's clear, I'm only saying I got the DECF zapped. Was this guy on a $400...or just $100 sorta thing that the rep waived it magically?

*about the showing gratitude*..Let's just say...I'm collecting a number of respectable 'favours' that I will be calling in one of these days. I only help good friends who deserve it. Those who are too dumb (like your friend there)...I help 'a bit'...

oh no no, lol
i didnt just magically cancel his contract
he was moving to place where there is no coverage and he's entitled to ECF credit.
but he didnt know any of this. so he thinks i saved him $400+tax (while he could have called himself) and was just like "cool, dude"

Actually I took advantage of this w/ T-Mobile down in the states.

I was told I could sign up and cancel the contract if I could prove I would be outside the network area. So I signed up for a 2 yr contract and got the device discount and did not pay any cancellation fees after 4 months because I moved back to Canada. (worked in the states for a summer)

It's not something that the carriers want to publicize.

In my case, I was told I needed to provide proof I was leaving the country, and that a foreign (CDN in this case) driver's license was sufficient. But when it came to cancelling, I didn't even have to show it...because I knew the T-Mobile lady so well haha.

Ontop of that, I was able to get credits by referring a bunch of my friends who were also working in the states for the summer.

End result: barely had to pay monthly fee due to circular referrals, and everybody signed up and canceled for a discounted device. WIN!

Geez...well what was so special about that? Everybody and their mother is entitled to that. Ithought you waived ecf altogether...man I was really doubting it haha.

hehe..well nice of you to let him in on that nugget of information :). Bravo!

A friend of mine has a friend that is his friend, that works at Bell. (LOL True story.)

Anyway, so the Bell employee said that if you live (or move) to a dead area (an area with no reception from said Carrier), and they have this dead zone logged on their system, they will gladly waive ECF and DECF fines, and will let you move on to another carrier that might be able to help you. Something about a Gov't law. They can't force you to pay for service if you can't get it. Similar to how DISH/DTV (??)
