hey

im going on vacation later this week and am considering an upgrade in my camera, if i can find a good deal

im currently using a Canon SD1000 7.1MP camera

im looking to upgrade to something better, but i have a budget of $150-$200

not looking for a DSLR, as they are too big for my liking, something compact would be nice

is there anything that you could recommend that would be a good upgrade to my current device?

thanks

SD1200?

I was thinking of getting it. Reviews seem favourable. Going for $120 at ToysRUs, many people PM'ing it

Look at the Hot Deals section

$200 !!

Hardly worth it - the SD1000 is a reasonably capable camera. Save the $200 and wait until you have $400.

In the meantime try the CHDK hackware on the SD1000.

Why A2000IS?

You can use it on the SD1000.

Why? My daughter has this camera and I have the SD1000. They're the same size. The SD780IS has 720p video where the SD1000 is 640x480. I really don't see enough of an uplift in still image quality or camera performance to justify spending $250 to get pretty much the same camera.

Save the $$$ and wait for something in the Canon S90 or the Canon G11 class or get a small superzoom but keep the SD1000 for those days when you want a simple pocketable camera.

This is an excellent suggestion.

PBase is also useful in that way.

yeah but i can get the A2000 IS for relatively cheap (still just over $200 CAD brand new where I currently work but is worth the price) and it mostly serves my needs, would be nice if it had more zoom but the consistent image quality and decent lowlight are what i want that for as well as the price.

Ah! my apologies for badgering you... I was confusing you with the OP who does already have a SD1000. Yes, the A2000IS appears to be a good value.
