lol, I was having the same idea. Travolta looks tough but once he talks in the film, he sounds like a whimp who's trying to act mean by ending every sentence with a profanity. Could have used more of James Gandolfini, in fact Gandolfini should have changed roles with Travolta, I'm sure he knows how to pull off acting tough. Bad, bad movie.

I wish I could take back the 5 seconds of my life it took to read your stupid comment which served no purpose other than to ruin the movie for those who may have wanted to watch it. Even though you got it wrong, Travolta isn't investing 10 million dollars....
To everyone who says the movie sucks, it may, or may not, but totally irrelevant and off topic to the point of this thread.

I love the first half of it and I'm not going to argue how sad the second half was. I pre-ordered it. I can't remember if Tony Scott did a Commentary, I hope he explains the decisions he made. I really hope the ending was pushed by the Studio/Producers.

Have there been ANY recent remakes of classics that have been worth spending 2 hours watching, let alone paying to see? Usually the best you can hope for is that they stick close to the original, just switching in today's actors for the originals, and leave well enough alone, yet directors can't resist tampering and screwing all the better stuff up. Shame really.

Mostly because the old one is so dated now. How many people under 50 really know anything about the "Rat Pack"? Not me, other than some of the names. Odd that for a bunch of singers it wasn't a musical. :)

So... get 50 copies for the price match of $1.60, take them all to BBV for their $10 trade in, bingo you've got $500 in BBV credit for only $80! Of course, you'd have to probably make 50 trips to both BBV and wherever you're price matching, but I'm sure some people on this forum have enough time on their hands to spend a weekend walking back and forth from store to store, right?

Someone just obviously forgot a 2 or a 3 at the beginning, the price is supposed to be $23.97 or $33.97 and will probably ring in as such in store.

Speaking of which - does anybody know if RCSS follow SCOP. I was seriously overcharged on an item ($60 instead of $20) last time I was in there and I was wondering if they had to knock $10 off the sticker price or what?
I didn't realise until last night when I was sorting through recent receipts. It almost slipped through. Makes me wonder how many other overcharges actually have.

I'm sorry but that movie is just mindless shots of cars, which we don't even see, and Angelia Jolie. If I could at least see ONE of the 50 cars that weren't American, I would be happy. Nope. Just shots of SUVS, glimpses of sports car and a ending scene with a Shelby Mustang....GREAT. Where are the sports cars? If I wanted to see American cars, I'll go watch a car commercial.

Not necessarily. That link is for the DVD version, and the link to the blu-ray version still says $3.97. The main question is whether-or-not the blu-ray version scans for $3.97 or regular price, and we haven't had any reports about that yet.

Happened to be at Walmart today and observed some interesting stuff.
I'm not one to buy a price mistake, but as I was strolling by the Blu Ray station I thought I'd scan it and see what comes up.
There seemed to be no copies available in the usual place however.
The standups where these would normally be had loads of DVD copies, but no Blu-Ray.
The staff person nearby told me their delivery had been delayed. I had the sense I was not being told the truth....
Then I saw someone else, probably an RFD'er, looking for this same item. I overheard a different clerk telling them it was there somewhere and to keep looking around the various shelves. The clerk said he had seen many copies of it earlier.
So was the shipment delayed? Or did they have many copies?
I watched the other RFD person look around and come up empty. They approached yet a third staff person who said 'Actually we only got one copy in and it already sold. I sold it about an hour ago.'
Just the way he said it didn't ring true. The shopper persisted. Eventually the other clerk came over and they called another location who said they had tons of copies, sounded like he said 15 or 16 or 18. Something-teen, anyway. So the shopper immediately sprinted out of there to head for the other location.
Anyway, a lot of this is just my impressions with no confirmation.
But I had the sense the shopper was urgently looking to get the $3.97 deal, and that at least some of the staff were giving out phony info.
My guess? They did have it in stock, but it was scanning at the unrealistic price so they either yanked it off the shelves or they bought some themselves. They had about 20 each of today's other new release Blu-ray titles, and probably twice that many of it in DVD format. So it seems unlikely they received only 1 or fewer copies...
All in all it was an interesting scene to watch play out. And from some of the reviews, this drama was more interesting to watch than the movie itself!

I was successful today in PMing the Blu-Ray at BB. But not successful with another deal I was trying to get. :cheesygri
However, it took a bit of fighting on my side and it started with trying to PM the FS Tekken 6 Bundle.
It was a loooong day...basically I tried to PM the FS Tekken 6 Deal first at FS and found 1 last unit. The Manager refused to PM it and said it was an error..and he called his Manager...and she said she would not PM it. So I took out my receipt for a new $2,500 TV that I got from their store and which i still did not receive.
I told her that other FS's matched the price of the brochure. So she asked to see the TV's receipt and said that she was shocked how I got it below their cost price and wanted to scan/photocopy my TV receipt. I stopped her and told her NOT to because I didn't want to cause harm to the person who sold it to me. When she knew about the TV, she was about to approve the price for the Tekken 6 bundle, but when I stopped her from copying the TV's receipt, she got pissed off and just said she cannot match it, and she can get the TV info of the system anyway (I doubt it because she didn't have all the reference and contract numbers anymore with her..so she was just saving face).
I told her, I am not one to cause problems but since this error was not posted as an error in her store (she knew nothing about the price error until I came to buy the bundle) and since I just bought an expensive TV, I was going to make an issue of it and took her card. She tried to blow it off and said I can email the HQ of Futureshop because it's not her fault (but she started to get more nervous and agitated).
So I told her it was not her fault but if others matched it and no price error notice was done then it's my right to have it honored. She said she would not honor it still and she wants to know the names of the people at other FS's who honored it. I lost my temper and told her that she SUCKS as a Manager...and I will be returning the TV, the extened PSP and the pro-calibration...but AFTER I was done with HER management at HQ. If she was nicer about it...I would have walked away much sooner, but her negative attitude and rude behavior just pushed my buttons..so I am going to give her hell. Screw the Tekken Bundle...now I just want to mess with her. This is coming from a very peacful guy...but I don't take kindly to A#$@oles.
I was so pissed off...that I decided to go to BB instead. It was not about the deal anymore...I just get stubborn when things that should go smoothly...don't.
So I went to BB at Dundas and they showed stock but could not find it at the warehouse...which was weird..they were all panicking and they told me that the Wilson BB would have it. So, I went all the way to the Wilson BB. They showed stock but ALSO could not just find it in the warehouse. It took them like 1 hour to find it. The warehouse guy was very relieved to have found it and was happy handing it over. I was so happy and the BB sales guy was about to match it when he said the difference is too big.
It all went downhill from there. He went to his manager who just insisted on not matching it and said that it was a price error that he cannot honor. I started having a quarrel with him about how long I was waiting for the Tekken 6 bundle and that they wasted my time and could have just told me from the start.
Anyway, he softened up...and said he was willing to shave 20 dollars of the retail price of $150, so I told him it was not low enough. So I then showed him the Walmart.ca Blu-Ray page printout with the $3.97 (they removed it from their site by the way with no price listed after they found out of the error...because the first Dundas BB checked the site and it was gone..so no deal for the Blu-ray from their side ;) )
The manager said he had to check the Walmart site again...and I told him fine go ahead and waste more time of mine...in a polite way...and he said that since he was gonna give me the $20 off the Tekken price due to my wait he was going to PM the Blu-ray to 3.97 (no 10% off extra..but its too small to matter) without checking the site. So he went and picked it up for my and escorted me to the cashier and instructed her to PM it. He was very polite...and I was polite back to him and thanked him for his help. You see, he was not an A#$@ole like the FS Manager I mentioned above. That makes a huge difference to me. Will definately be buying from that BB in the future. He won me as a customer with his professional and polite attitude. He was not stubborn..and came up with a middle-solution that would make a client happy. That is much better Customer Service I have to say.
So I ended getting the Blu-Ray for $4.49 instead of $35.99 which is BB's normal price. Oh, and I havn't even seen the movie before...so that is a bonus...even though some people say that it was a bit slow.
So, even though I was pissed that I didn't get the Tekken 6 Deal (it's dead by now)...at least I got a the Blu-Ray deal.
Phew!! That was the longest post ever...but I had to share this weird day with you guys! Peace! ;)

The problem is you just have to be lucky or unlucky to meet the newbie or dumb clerks as you call them..LOL..so YMMV.
Today was just not my lucky day...but it is partially my fault..because i was trying to resuscitate a dead deal! I should have been on this deal the day it started...thanks to the OP for posting it anyway. But I just didn't get to the post soon enough.
But as I said...at least I got the movie deal..so it's not a complete loss. ;)

Tried getting this from futureshop at yonge/dundas. No go. The guy kept calling walmart and tried the site but walmart said there was no such thing, and he couldn't find it on the site. He didn't care about the printout. Guy was an a$$ at the store.

so ppl love it when they abuse pm policy by clearly pming a price error (and states on bb that they do not). Yet whine and complain when they dont match a normal deal. Good riddance!

Generally a huge price difference would mean the clerk will check the website or have to refer to their manager because its not within their "discretion" really and they don't want to get in trouble for it. You got lucky with the pelham deal because it was pulled off their website right on Tuesday and had they checked, you would not have gotten the PM.
But i have to agree with you, its all about customer service. Some stores deliver excellent customer service and its a sign that they have good management in the store or hired the right employees.
Just watched this on the plane, and OMG what a waste of my time.
Lol i did the same too.. i was expecting something completely different with this movie and it disappointed me really.

That's $80 in savings for the Tekken 6 Bundle.
Oh, yeah i did save $31 on the Blu-ray but my main time was for the Tekken 6 bundle. The movie was secondary to me.
And for all you haters out there...don't give me that crap about how disgusting it is and blah blah blah. What makes you so righteous?!
What the heck are you doing on RFD in the first place if you are not looking for deals? Don't tell me you wouldn't jump on a deal if you had a chance. Just buzz off and go join some other group then if you don't like how sometimes we other RFDers try to get deals.
I stated clearly after that that it was a waste of time and i would not attempt it again unless for a done deal.
Oh, and I suggest you aim your attacks on the hoarders who try to make profit out of these things. I was just trying to get a good deal because I was going to personally use it...not sell it.
I am sick of **** out here on RFD who just flame for the heck of it. I wanted to share an experience. If you haters out there had experienced such a thing you probably wouldn't have the guts to share it because you would feel embarrassed. Just grow up and stop flaming!

Is that how prices are ruled?
For example, in games you have a mega-hit seller....like Street Fighter 4...and yet its price has been dropped. Then you have older games that did not sell that much...and still their prices are all almost the same as when they were released.
Some great movies have their prices dropped too even if they are hot sellers...so the rule is...depending on the seller/retailer...not on the quality of the movie. Some crappy movies are still high priced too.

Seems like he drove around a lot, waited a lot, all for sub $50 discount, if that.
Not worth the effort. You could have worked 4 hours and made 100 bucks.

A price error is NOT a deal... it is a price error. You have no rights getting it at that price... others only got it becuase the manager didn't know any better.
In your case, the manger knew better.. and if I was the manager.. I'd tell you to f*** off too. One less idiot customer to deal with trying to by products at LESS than cost price that result in my company LOSING money.

I see that argument a lot on RFD. who does that apply to? Maybe people operating a business or students?
I work for a fixed salary. Theoretically, I could spend 4 hours at best buy and lose nothing except my sanity. Not that I would do that. No I will not take an after-hours job at tim hortons to buy blu rays.

Peace! ;)
Only at RFD... If it was for some half decent movie you wouldn't get as much flack, but The Taking of Pelham was a giant turd!

A price error is NOT a deal... it is a price error. You have no rights getting it at that price...
Actually in Quebec we do have that right. If there are no laws against false advertising where you live maybe there should be.
Haven't seen the remake (won't now) but I just wanted to give a shout out to Robert Shaw from the (superior) original. They don't make actors and movies like that anymore.

Save $30? The retail price for the Tekken 6 bundle is $150!

I dont think youre at all over the top by trying the get 100$ / half hour of owrk!!!! I mean those who do not understand that are pittifull since yall should know that canadians average waige is 24$ / hour for males between 15-64 so no matter how you seen it you were scoring a great deal had you had it. People that ridicule you for trying to get deals are bornés and snob and i laugh at them

RFD is about finding the best *honest* price on an item, not on finding ways to rip off retailers. There *is* a difference.
I noticed you taught the store a lesson by cancelling an order for an item you ordered below their cost. But it seems all that happened is you let them walk away gracefully from a money losing deal with a problem customer.

Im just tryin to give people a little cost-benefit analysis.
If you think of what youre ending up with, compared to the time it all took, its definately not worth the hassle.
Maybe the 25/h is not the best analogy to use for people that can drive around town going to bestbuys for a 4 dollar blu ray

If you accidentally posted the wrong price on a kijiji ad don't tell me you would honor it.
But basic human decency dictates that I'd make up for my mistake by buying the guy a beer or something, right after immediately correcting my error.
Now extend that to a guy making a living solely from selling stuff on kijiji and reputation is an important factor in his ability to make a living.
Now extend that to someone with a few brick and mortar stores and a sizeable investment at stake.
Now extend that to a multinational corporation with shareholders, stakeholders, a marketing department, and thousands of employees.
I'm not sure I'm getting your point anymore.
There are two separate issues here:
a) The store that makes the error should have to pay for it to every customer who can claim they were inconvenienced by the error. This is good law and the only way to do business in a civilized society.
b) Sure Best Buy shouldn't have to honour their 110% price match guarantee because some other store made a mistake, I understand that. But since everyone makes mistakes, on kijiji or otherwise, Best Buy should put that in their advertised policy in no uncertain terms, something like "we will not honour this policy if the price match is for an item advertised in error, or priced so low that we think we might not be making enough profit, or just feel like not honouring our written and advertised policy that day. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PRICE MATCH IF THIS WOULD RESULT IN A DEAL THAT IS TOO GOOD." Otherwise it's the same kind of scam as making people believe that they can get an item at a low advertised price then reneging on the deal.
The only other reasonable option would be to not advertise such a price matching policy at all.
Their rules not mine.

This deal is almost dead. The price of $3.97 is no longer listed and any sales rep should use common sense to see that this is clearly a mistake.

Deals and shenannigans are 2 different things
You've been a member for what, 2 weeks, and are sick of it already?
Shenannigans? So basically having a civilized argument or disagreement about a deal is a shenannigan? You got your thoughts mixed...either that or you are just too passive. I've seen a lot of passive people who just give up once they face resistance. I am not like that. I respect the person in front of me..but when they switch to an impolite or rude manner...that just is not acceptable to me.
I have been a long time fan of RFD and I have signed up to thank RFDers for special deals they shared.....read my first ever RFD post if you want to understand more.
As for being sick of it...I am not talking about myslef only. I have seen so many people get flamed by RFDers just because they voiced their opinions. That is what makes me sick of it. Those haters should just grow up..and either add positive input and respect the voices of others here. Just don't bash peoples voiced opinions or experiences. It is just silly and rude. We are all here for good deals...if you are not...then you shouldn't be on RFD in the first place. That's just what I have to say about that.

I'd like to know how long that whole ordeal took.
Gas + Time actually.
Seems like he drove around a lot, waited a lot, all for sub $50 discount, if that.
Not worth the effort. You could have worked 4 hours and made 100 bucks.
I'd like to answer your inquiry:
1- I didn't drive. Took the TTC.
2- Yes, I wasted like 3-4 hours but that was because i was trying to be patient at the BB when the warehouse guy finally found the item later. He was very polite and I just wanted to oblige him. Too bad that did not work out in the end. But yeah, I stated again and again..it was a waste of time..which I would not do again for a deal that was not concrete.
3- I am on vacation...so I don't have work to do right now...it was just wasted time. Plus I make more than that...but that is another point.

Second, if you were a Manager like that one I mentioned and said to ANY customer F#$@ off...you DO NOT deserve to be a Manager. Take a hint at how the BB Manager handled the situation.
Third, FS Mangers in other stores DID honor the deal when they knew it was a price error...because FS did not post a notice of the error. Get your facts straight. It's may not be in their policy but it's in the hands of the Managers..and the smart ones with good customer service senses (Something you obviously know nothing about with your response!) do try to retain their clients. The idiot at FS that I dealt with was NOT a proper Manager and had ZERO customer service skills...she just lost my purchase of over $3,000 from HER same FS store for a TV...because of her stupid behavior.
I was not getting the item below cost for your information. I did not elaborate on that. But I will, just to show you that I was actually trying to help out the sales rep.
The reality is that the Sales rep was very nice with me and gave me a bit of discount...but nowhere below the cost price. I got the extended PSP and pro-calibration added to the purchase of the TV at a little discounted price too.
I know that unlike BB sales reps or associates, those working at FS get commission especially on the warranty & calibration...and next to nothing on the TV sale price... and I let him understand that I knew that at the beginning, so he doesn't try to take me for a ride. So he asked me politely if he could adjust the receipt to maximize the price showing on the receipt of the extended warranty PSP and the Pro-Calibration as at their maximum price (for his commission) but that would show the price of the TV less than the price we agreed upon. So just to help him out, I agreed...because the total amount I was going to pay was the same anyway.
That is why it showed to the stupid Manager on the receipt that the TV was lower than the price advertised..and when I didn't want her to copy the receipt..she just got pissed off and ruder. So basically the Manager ruined it for the poor sales rep with her negative behavior and attitude.
By the way, I called the Sales Rep and told him that I was going to cancel the deal. When he knew who the Manager I dealt with...he was not surprised and agreed that she is a B#@$. He was sad...and I really felt bad for him..but he said she should not be working as a Manager in the first place ..but a good relation with the previous management elevated her to that position. Man...she couldn't even speak proper English with me during the whole argument.
So I was just tying to be the good guy here for the sake of the rep...so its their loss...not mine. I hope you got a clearer picture now.

from what i understand from your original post... FS was LOSING money by selling you that $2000 TV... they were also LOSING money by selling you that video game... AND they also LOST money by selling you that Blu-ray.
See a pattern here? A GOOD manager MAKES money.
If I ran a futureshop and gave away everything for $1... I'd have the HAPPIEST customers in the world - but LOSE the company money.
So you tell me... as a GOOD manager... what should i be more concerned about? Make sure my company doesn't lose money? Or making a customer who is OBVIOUSLY out to purchase items below cost happy?
It would be of best interest to my store for someone like you to NEVER come back again. I'm sure the manger got congratulated by HQ and she probably even got a raise for not buckling in to scum like you trying to rip off stores.
ENOUGH SAID.
