By "Ahhh" moment I mean a moment where you realize that all those talks and lectures really did sink in and not go over their heads.
We've had one this morning. Our oldest (20 & ADHD) headed off to a Halloween party last night. On his way out the door we told him a couple of things. If he had even a sip of any alcohol then he was not to drive under any circumstances. If he couldn't crash where he was his Dad would pick him up, no questions asked. The other thing we told him was that if he drank and was going to crash where he was to make sure he hid his keys well somehow to assure no one else who might have drank could drive his car. Lots of times it really seems like when we talk about these kinds of thing it goes in one ear and out the other... Well he called before midnight last night to say he was crashing where he was. Definitely a point in the plus column for him. He called a couple of hrs ago and asks for his Dad to come and unlock his car. I asked him why and he said he purposefully locked his keys in his car last night. He figured that way no one else could "find" his keys and he wouldn't be tempted or bullied into driving either. Needless to say, his Dad happily went to unlock his car for him! :D
