I have some trip pictures taken with my Canon XS that I'm thinking of making into those big canvas prints. What's the largest I can make the prints and still have it look okay?

The pictures are of mostly trees, with some water/waterfalls (think Costa Rica jungle).

Not sure what ok for you is but here's a chart that might help you out.

With a 10MP original file, rest assured you can pretty much print is as big as you want. I used to make large prints taken with 3.2MP cameras and they looked great. Heck, we even had prints as wide as a building for some promo events that were made from 2MP files...

If you're planning to print on canvas it won't be at 300dpi anyway so no stress. Even on the best paper you would get fantastic results on prints 6 feet wide!

I shoot with a slightly obsolete dSLR that has 7.5MP and I have zero issues having the photos in full page coffee-table books.

Yup! If the photo is reasonably sharp you can print ... AS BIG AS YOU WANT!

I've had printed life size photos of people from my 8 Megapixel DSLR and it was fine.
