Hi,

I recently purchased a home that is approx 5 years old. The garage door has plastic windows that were covered in a blue protective coating. The original homeowner never removed it and did a sloppy job painting over it.

I would like to remove it to allow some light into my garage but trying to scrape this off looks like it will take hours. The panels have one screw in the back but when i remove it there doesn't appear to be an easy way to take the window out and pull this blue stuff off.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

If the trim cannot be removed, you can always take an exacto knife (sharp blade) and score along the edges in a way that it cut along the tirm and then peel the blue plastic off. Don't use too much pressure with the exacto knife since you don't want to place groves in the plastic, only enough to cut the plastic.

If you can catch an edge of the plastic film, you can pull on it. If it does not want to peel of, you may try heating (warming it up, not melting it) the film with a hair dryer and softening the adhesive that holds it on.
