Im gonna be in in nyc one day, my flight leaves early the next morning, rather than book a hotel for the night, I wana just stay awake all night till morning. So how do I kill time? Are their any safe places to kill time, the only thing I can think of is to kill time at a 24hr white castle or something.

What a ridiculous statement the OP made Of course stuff is open. Now safe? That all depends on where you go..

Go to H&H Bagels for their "hots" at 4 am

You might want to visit Jamaican Street.

Well something you can do before midnight thats totally free is going on the Stanton Island Ferry. They run every half hour until 11:30pm. A friend told me about this and I thought it was a great freebie because you see the lower manhattan skyline at night from the water. When you get to the other side you get off and then go right back on to go back to manhattan.

Last call is later over there too, 4am I think.

You don't want to go to the 24hr White Castle, it's just filled with homeless, and they smell rather bad... and they live in the stalls.
A bunch of fast food, deli, restaurants are open 24hrs though so you could loiter there. If you have luggage then it might be a problem, but you could walk around, and explore the city. It's pretty safe from the 80-70s all the way down. They have some 24 hour stores, like the Apple Store, so you could check it out. It's pretty interesting seeing if anyone will buy a computer at 4am... You can also hobo it up by sleeping in a any of the parks like many people do.
