Hello everybody,

so i rent a room in a house and my landlord also lives in this house. He has a phone and said I could split the line with him.

so in my room there is phone jack (house is subdivided) but landlord says that if i connect to that line I will have to get a seperate line (different number)


How should I connect the line to my room without having blue wires running all over the house?
this is a landline....what is the maximum $$ I should contribute towards it? (I only use the phone duirng the day....cell at night)

Thanks for the helpIs that phone jack in your room live, if so than it's an extension line and would have the same number and share the same line.
Your landlord could call and have a second number put in for an added cost per month and they usually waive the installation cost, you could still use the same jack if there is presently a line going to it. They would split into it from another open source.

I would check the provider, eg. Rogers, Bell etc. and visit there web site or call to find out the cost to do so. I wouldn't mention that it's for a another income residence since I was asked this when I wanted one and was told they sometimes charge more since they see it as revenue for the home owner. I know it's foolish but this is Rogers/Bell were talking about.
