Hey guys, looks like Future Shop started their annual extension on their price protection/guarantee from today to Jan 3 of next year.

Does this apply to friends and family events and web specials as well from past experience?

Can somebody tell me exactly what's changed from before?

I am reading their policy page and found nothing substantial: http://www.futureshop.ca/informationcentre/EN/retailpolicies.asp?logon=&langid=EN#999

Seems all they did is to add the below blurb, which is nothing new except for now they clearly state the specific conditions under which they will NOT do a price match.

Guaranteed lowest price until January 3

We will beat any advertised price from October 30 til January 3 guaranteed.
The advertised item must be for the same brand and model and the product must be new and factory sealed, and subject to a manufacturer’s warranty applicable in Canada. Advertised prices must be in Canadian dollars, and will be calculated as including all charges applicable for next day delivery to your home address. The advertised item must be sold through an authorized dealer located in Canada. The terms and conditions of “Get it for less, guaranteed™” are subject to change without notice. Our lowest price guarantee does not apply to advertising errors or misprints, special educational prices, restricted offers, mail order offers, rebates, coupons, premiums, free or bonus offers, OEM products, limited or minimum quantity or limited time offers, close-outs, liquidations, clearances, financing, other special offers, or Boxing Day (Dec. 24-27, 2009, or Dec. 24-28, 2009 in Atlantic Canada) prices. If you are not completely satisfied, please talk to our store General Manager. If you need more help call 1-800-663-2275 for further assistance.

Me thinks FS is trying to cover their ass during the holiday season in case Sears(or anyone else) does another "Xbox Live 2800 points for 19.99" sort of thing.

"...does not apply to...Boxing Day (Dec. 24-27, 2009, or Dec. 24-28, 2009 in Atlantic Canada)"

So basically pointless.

Also watch out for Staples-like weasel words, "calculated as including all charges applicable for next day delivery to your home address." That gives them $25 to $50 of wiggle room with most competitors since few of them (including FS/BB) offer free next day delivery.

everyone knows that FS / BB raises their prices for the Holiday season.
