View Full Version : Wendy's Applewood Smoked Bacon

Today I went to Wendy's for dinner and I was greeted by a shiny new menu board. On it was Applewood Smoked Bacon for the Baconator and Bacon Deluxe (formerly the Big Bacon Classic). Evrything on the menu saw a price increase of 10 cents. However the Baconator and Bacon Deluxe saw an increase of 60 cents. The Bacon Deluxe/Big Bacon Classic went from $6.49 to $7.09 and the Baconator went from $7.79 to $8.39. More than a little pricey.

I went ahead and ordered a Baconator Combo and the sandwich is heavier as the bacon is twice the size now. The Applewood Smoked Bacon is very good indeed. Much better than the "fast food" bacon that was there before. Actually, I like the old Wendy's "fast food" bacon but, after you tatse Applewood Smoked Bacon, you will never want to eat any other bacon it is delicious! The Baconator Sandwich jumped from 278g to 312g and 830 calories to 950 calories. I really like it but, I don't think it's worth the steep price increase.

Is that $8.39 for a meal or just a burger?

sounds good, but wow thats a lot of calories for just the burger. I dont think the guilt would be worth it.

It is $8.39 (+ taxes) for the full Combo.

Just the burger is $6.19 (+ taxes)

Yeah.. Now that you mention it.. I didn't notice the price jump, or think much of the bacon, but I ordered that same combo last night and it WAS heavy. I actually didn't finish it.

Hmm.

Just yesterday, I went to Wendy's for lunch ang ordered a Bacon Deluxe Double for the very first time. It was $8.19 + taxes. The burger is quite heavy and is very dense. It has 1/2 lb. of beef after all. It was very tasty, the Applewood Smoked Bacon really is an improvement over Wendy's old bacon. The other topping were very fresh. I was quite pleased however, the Baconator is still my favourite!

I haven't eaten fast food for several months so i thought i give this a try couple days ago and to my surprise it was actually really good. I got the single and it was pretty heavy, glad i didn't get the double or triple.

I tried their big bacon classic couple years ago and didn't like it, but this is a big improvement over that.

The bacon's good but the patty was kinda crappy. A decent sized meal, though :D

No way. The Baconator is here to stay and with Applewood Smoked Bacon, it's now better than ever!
