Dishwasher not cleaning properly

I have a stainless steel dishwasher and its about 8 months old. Over the last month it hasn't been cleaning as well as before. Things are coming out with a bit of a haze on it.

We only average the dishwasher about once a week so I can't imagine that it can be calcium build up since I don't have a softner installed. The reason I think this is that my shower heads are all working well and its the same water.

Do you guys think that its something else? Or should I try some CLR? has anyone had any experience in removing calcium build up in a dishwasher?

The water was pretty hard when I lived in Waterloo but am not convinced that it is the problem.

Do you use jet-dry? What kind of detergent - gel/liquid or powder?

I know that our area has above average hard water.. not really that bad but somewhat hard but since we only use the dishwasher once a week which means its only been used 35 times since it was installed...

We use jet dry and also use cascade gel

Do you ever run the hot water before using the dishwasher?

Maybe before you turn the machine on dump a good shot of vinagar in there.

even instead of using jet dry , use vinager. Just a thought

I have the same problem, I guess I'll try the vinegar.

I use the pot and pan cycle = super clean cycle + pre-rinse and use Cascade gel and sometimes my glasses come out foggy.

Use the vinegar only occasionally. The acidic nature of vinegar can damage the seals/plastic components in the dishwasher.

We use a water softener, and I can tell when we are low on salt by my glasses!

Try a different type of dishwasher detergent. eg powder instead of gel. Or a different brand. You might be able to borrow a small sample from family or friends to try out.

Make sure the thing is draining properly. We had a similar problem turned out the drain was clogged below the sink. Makes sense, this is the only way it can get rid of stuff.
