$179-199 is expensive enough for a DSi. Sounds like Nintendo is trying to compete with Sony is the $250 price range

Jeez, that screen is huge.. but Nintendo DS games are quite low-res and horrible graphics, stretching it out making it even look worse isnt a good trade-off for a better internet browsing experience..

Man I want Nintendo to lower the price on the DS Lite already. Make it $99.99 (regularly priced) and I might bite. $79.99 would be aawwwesome.

Wow, are you waiting for PS2 to drop to $39 before you pick up one of those too?

I actually got a PS2 for $59, thank you very much. As it stands, there are not many enticing factors to own a DS, IMHO. There's only about 5-10 games on the system I would consider getting. How long has the DSL been out? Without a price drop? Give me a break.
edit: June 11th, 2006, is when the DSL has been released. Has not dropped in price since, apart from sporadic sales.

But it sells boat loads... why would they drop the price then?

Exactly. Now does anyone know if they're increasing the resolution? I read they designed this more for the older folks so I am guessing the resolution stayed the same which is a major bummer. There is no compelling reason to own a DSi much less this if screen size is all they changed.
Also, only 10 games that game_fanatic wants to play on the DS? Wow. The DS library far surpasses the PSP's in quantity and quality.

well it may be the type of games. For myself, there are also a small list of games I would want to play on the DS and two of them are Pokemon games.
I find the PSP experience catering to my current taste much more. Dissidia is something you won't ever see on the DS and I loved that game even though the camera was terrible. DJ Max Portable is another series I love and that hasn't appeared on the DS for obvious reasons.

Meh, to each his/her own, I suppose. I don't see where the PSP argument came from, apart from you trying to turn this thread into a DS vs PSP thread. It seems most of the critically-acclaimed games on the DS just don't really appeal to me. I'm aching for some Pokemon action though! Been down with that since Yellow yo!

I have to disagree with you there. Quantity: yes, Quality: no. PSP quality games definitely hold their own against DS games.
The PSP is heaven for RPG lovers this generation. Its even better with PSX ports/remakes of classic RPGs such as Suikoden 1 & 2, Star Ocean 1 & 2, Tales Series, hell I've even played the original Lunar Series on my PSP.

Further details to be announced soon. I completely disagree with the PSP being the RPG king (emulators don't count). I can start my list but that will be just flamebait at this point. I have a PSP too (two in fact since I just had to buy the PSP slim to go along with my Phat) but the DS library just has far too many gems both from a critical standpoint and overall different genres. The only genre I can honestly say that exceeds the DS are driving games and sports games (and FPS). But to each their own.
I do agree that this is a far crazier move than the PSP Go.

Larger screen and better battery life, but I'm still not digging this revision. It's not that worth it.

I am confused, they made the lite because the last one was too big and now they are making a bigger dsi because this one is too small??

+1, from the picture the thing looks huge, its definitely aimed at the older crowds who have problems viewing from current ds screen size + using the small stylus
the pixel count will be the same so can imagine 3D games looking HORRIBLE on this thing, heck after testing out a dsi i thought the larger screen on that was too pixelated
edit: also its called the DSi LL in Japan and DSi XL in Europe. My guess it will be called DSi XXXL Wideload in North America.

i'm pretty happy with my relatively new DSi, the screen was a good improvement from the DS lite (i also wanted a change, since i owned two DS lites before already). highly highly doubt i will consider switching to this, it just seems too big and bulky.

Would consider a DSi if they made it SMALLER.

Does the LL stand for "little larger" or something? Either way i just dont see the point of this UNLESS there is some kind of added functionality which as far as we know right now it doesnt or at least they have still to state what the new features are.
