FS has their promo of $100 off $1000 or more. So after PM from Blacks that has it for $1999 it would be $1989 and then apply the coupon to have it at $1889+tax=$2134
BH has it for $1700 but after paying taxes at customs and the conversion its $2055+whatever shipping costs are.
So my question is how low do you think it will average out at?

I think you can take the D300 pricing and expect similar of the 7D. Which I think means about 200 to 300 drop over it's in production life.

There won't be any significant price drop for at least another year or so, especially if it sells well. Nikon and Canon seem intent on pushing the top-prosumer level to the $2000 CDN mark so I can see the D300s and 7D dropping down to $1500 CDN levels at the end of their life... if we're lucky.
Personally, if you can get a 7D now while it's still new for around $2K all in (i.e. including taxes, shipping etc.) then I would call it a win.

In a few years I'm sure you can pick one up for under $200. Look at the 1D classic: 8 years ago it was $5500 and now you can get one for $500!!!!

I was thinking more in terms of the price when the body is still considered in production....

After taxes with shipping from Alberta. The dealer seems ok so hopefully no issues. Seems to be selling a lot of camera gear of various sorts. Made some mistake with the payment (why the heck does paypal defaults to chequing when I have creditcard for ages? Stupid design, they need a competitor) and he helped me sorted it out right away.

I think as a rule in general Futureshop etc don't make a lost on things like these. After doing a conversion on the US retail price to CAD I think we are just getting ripped off at retail in Canada. The mark up here must be pretty big.

That is quite a sweet deal, new or used? Even if its used it can't be that old anyway ;)

In a few years, you're probably looking at a 7D Mark II or Mark III. So what's the point of buying a 7D then when there's something better available?

Any updates on this? Did the camera arrive yet? I check that thread out, and nothing about buying from Alberta, any link of the store? thanks!
btw, are the 2 kit lense any good? the very wide 15-85 IS and 18-135 IS, any reviews on this lense yet?
the kit 18-135 from B&H is around $200 more, why is it $550 more here?
I want a Vdslr, but the 500D/T1i just dont cut it, but the 7D is still very pricey. any news on 60D yet?

It arrived. I used it. It's new or basically new. Not sure how it works but the seller included a receipt from future shop for it but the price listed on it was 2099 after taxes. So seems a bit funny but registered on Canon's website no issues.

could it be like credit card fraud, like the item is purchased by an invalid credit card? i dunno i am just randomly guessing

Heh, yea that's a bit odd, $2099 is the standard retail price for the 7D before taxes... even in Alberta you still gotta pay the 5% GST at least.

No idea but 800 electronics transaction on ebay since 2006 and not caught?
So no idea what the situation is with this camera but as long as I don't get dinged I am not asking too many questions. It'll be an unending annoyance if I do.

Actually a few places in Alberta sell it for less than 2099. I also saw a 7D on ebay from an actual BC camera shop that went for about the same price as what I got as well. So it's not too odd. If you do the conversion yourself from US pricing we are getting seriously ripped off at official Canadian retail pricing. I am pretty sure the canon invoice price has a hefty margin built in for the retailer. It's one way to ensure they push their gear vs Nikon or any other brand.
Does anyone know where we can find manufacturer invoice prices? Sort of like the car invoice price sites?

Oh I know.
What Canon Canada is doing for the 7D pricing here is highway robbery since the MSRP of the 7D in the States is $100 less then the Nikon D300s but the Canadian MSRP of the 7D here is $30 more then the Nikdon D300s.

It will be nice if we have something similar to Carcostcanada, which we know their invoice, and we can negotiate from how much above invoice, awesome idea :!: but smaller size dealer may get them for more $, becoz of volume, so its hard to compare with cars. hopefully someday, there will be a cameracostcanada site :cheesygri
btw, do you mind posting that ebay seller link again? i can't seem to find from you RFD link....

You can search for "the_king_is_me" or just 7D on ebay. There was a few 7Ds on ebay but seem to be all gone now. Only buy it now left and at retail pricing it appears, except for one from quebec at 1899.

But don't they get better pricing on BMWs and Mercs? And better small cars by far. We don't get the really hot Ford Focus etc etc.

The Digital Rebel costs more than $200 and it retailed for $900 when it was new. DSLR prices just bottom out. The 7D will be $1k in two years give or take.

Apparently there is some firmware problem or something with the Canon 7D, not sure if thats the reason price is dropping or if people are buying from the States then selling it here.
