I have two phone with Rogers:twisted:, one for myself and one for my sister. Both numbers are under my name and the 3 year contract expires in May 2009. Because I am moving, I called Rogers:twisted: and asked them to split my bill so my sister can pay for her own. The CSR said there is no problem with it, all they need is to have my sister call them and confirm the name change.

So my sister called, and one month later, her bill came. On the back of the bill, it says that the contract expires in October 2012. Both CSRs did not inform us about the 3 year contract renewal and they just extended it by another 3 years without our consent.

I can't believe Rogers:twisted: tried to pull this dirty trick on their loyal customers. What do you think, is this a scam or what?

No scam, but usually, if you don't inform them, they would renew it for 3 years.

Shouldn't they be the one to inform me about the contract?

rogers is at fault for not making you aware of a contract. you should escalate this and get reference call #'s

you split the bill... your sister had to get evaluated for credit check... new account... brand new 3 year term.

Two possibilities:

a- you were on a family plan, and you guys separated the family plan. This IN AND OF ITSELF requires the creation of two new lines, which inherently get assigned new contracts at least to the term equal of that remaining on the original family term.

UNLESS, you only had 1yr left on the family plan, and were put on a new 3yr, then you can escalate and have it reversed to the original term remaining.

b- you are actually on SEPARATE CTN BANs, and all that happened was you guys did a tor of the one line to the other sibling. IN THIS CASE, a term renewal is not required, and a simple escalation is necessary to have the renewal reversed.

No biggie. ROGERS...ie the ROGERS CORPORATE BLOODY GIANT...did not 'scam you'. Let's find out which of the scenarios I've highlighted applies to you, then we'll say that you are either incorrect in your accusations...or if simply a rep made a mistake-which you can now have corrected (should you choose to whine about how inconvenienced you were and how it should translate into financial discount for you this month is your discretion) quite easily.

Holla.

Called Rogers and told the CSR what happened and she admitted that they were at fault for not telling us about the new 3 year contract when we asked to split the bill, so she removed it for us. :)

You still didn't answer which case applies to you. Family plan., or separate lines sharing the same account?

Why wouldn't you call Rogers FIRST and then post about being "scammed" on RFD afterwards if necessary?

The renewal doesn't make any sence. By default the system is setup for auto renewal so the date needs to be fixed manually. That's the way it works for Fido and it whouln't make any sence of a renewal just for a Transfer of Responsibility.
