HDTV is a well known among Asian market... it often offers better deals than mainstream stores. I know friends bought LCD from them and they are happy with it.

I was able to get the Bravia Micro Home Theatre system at FS for $299 maybe a year ago
The Micro Stereo System is only $119 on Sonystyle.. still $50 cheaper than MSRP (not quite $80) but something I am thinking of getting my parents.
I did not check the other items but I suspect everything is made to look like crazy deals (like everyone else does) but they might be "just" good deals :)

Bear in mind, Delta Hotal needs to pay PARKING by using meter.
Are you serious? Parking lot or street? I was at the Dell Event and I didn't pay attention. I'm glad I didn't get a ticket!

FYI. You do not pay parking(meter) at the Delta on 404/Hwy7. You do need to pay parking (meter) at Delta on Kennedy & 401.

I thought the Pioneer 600m was a monitor and not a "television" since it has no internal tuner?

It is a monitor, but if you have either a cable or satellite box, you don't need an internal tuner.
I guess it's useful to have if you are going the OTA route, or just have standard cable.

By law, every supplier beyond the "small supplier" threshold is supposed to collect GST on a taxable supply. Ontario retail sales tax must be charged by a vendor of "tangible personal property". Whether a seller is a corporation or not (and there is no such thing as an "official corporation") is irrelevant to whether GST and RST should be collected.
It is highly inappropriate for you to ask such a question in an open forum such as RFD.
Are you a CRA or Ontario Ministry of Finance auditor?

Hey man, I just moved recently so I have been trying to purchase new TV.
For a 46 inch I think the lowest I have seen was at 1099. So I think it is quite worth it. Though do know that it is only 60Hz, so you are paying to buy last generation's TV? Given 120Hz seems to be taking the main stream these day?

Offering a discount which will yield the same price pre-tax (which HBC does often) is permitted but is a totally different situation Shaid86 was talking about.

Isn't it the Sony strda7100es? It doesn't decode TrueHD or DTS-HD so make sure your player can output a decoded multichannel signal to the receiver.

Just dropped by there at 11:30 and it was already open. no line up and a few ppl in there. The micro system was a REFURB!! so the price is barely ok but at least it came with still 1yr warranty. So keep an eye open some stuff is refurbished or open box but looks like most TVs might be new unopened I didn't look hard enough as I was in a rush. I thnk the Vaio P was $699 but refurbished. Also they still had PS3 slims available. They were still moving stock into the backroom and revising prices e.g. Rogers HDPVR was 350 when I walked in and by the time I walked out it changed to $400.

I dunno how you look like so can't be sure. As for being in places I am sure you have potentially access to dataplan and iPhone/BB or even laptop and hotel wifi or something. But it's ok even if you are with them ;) I find that when the deals are shady or no good ppl get reported and stabbed for posting for affiliated.... but if your deals are decent or even hot your grounds gets worshiped and noone would even think about reporting you but thats how it goes and "your" deals ain't bad :D
ok enough chat bumping your thread as otherwise you really may get a warning cause you suppose to only do it twice a day no matter what :D

Yes, it's pricy but it has received very good reviews from end-users.Older doesn't mean it's worse than newer models. I was interested in the sc-05 but I'll probably get a Yamaha. I've owned Yamaha receivers in the past and they sounded really good. I currently have an Onkyo but I prefer the sound of the Yamaha.

One thing you also have to keep in mind are the peripherals you'll be using with the receiver. This receiver deserves good speakers, cables, and display.
Since it's a discontinued model, it may not be available at Christmas.

It is not a Sony store sale, don't think you can use Sony points.
You CAN use them elsewhere, but it needs to be a Sony authorized dealer, and that's where I may run into a problem.
Plus, every time you purchase from Sony Style or the Sony store using your Sony Card, you automatically receive DOUBLE Sony Points with your order. You can also earn "double points" or request a "points purchase credit" for Sony product purchases at any Sony of Canada Ltd. authorized dealer.
To request, please complete the SonyCard Double Points/Purchase Credit Request Form. Enter a new world of entertainment with the Sony Card.

I almost spend the money on the 600m. But after some deep thinking decided against it as I just don't have the room and 3799 is still a big chunk of money. As of 6pm today there's 3 left of the 600m.
The 101FD was also on "sale" for 2799. Except for the 500m All the other Elites models (151/141/111) also have decent price cuts.
I feel bad that they put the Elites on the side where nobody notices it. Doesn't people know a gem when they see one?!

Unfortunately, not everyone has access to US prices in Canada. Not to mention the possible lack of warranty.

Hi, picked up the Toshiba 42zv655u $1200+tax. Good deal? 2 more left.
About 10 minute lineup to get inside, fairly busy around 1:30pm Sunday. Today is the last day.

Picked up the Elite DV-49 DVD Player for $99. It was $179 marked down to $119 and managed to talk them down. Great deal if you're looking for a truely quality DVD player that's on the same level as the Oppo's. This should be great with my Kuro Elite.

I saw that player too and was interested in its sacd playback capabilities. Unfortunately, the one person I asked couldn't tell me if it could feed a dsd signal to my Onkyo receiver.

You probably weren't talking to the right person. It's an Elite player though, so I'd be surprised if it can't. You could always get a PS3 ;)
Nonetheless, I bought it mainly as an upconverting DVD player. The normal "upconverting" DVD players can't do the movies justice on my Kuro Elite, and this is significantly cheaper than the Oppo's, which are probably the only other players I would consider that do.
The $400 Panasonic S97 DVD player (that, by the way, I got for $150 about 2 years ago at Futureshop open box) that I was using earlier could only upconvert to 1080i, which, while looks amazing on my old 720p set with its Faroudja chipsets, also couldn't do the Kuro Elite any justice.
So here I am. RFD's making me broke.

Not too crowded this afternoon.
Picked up a couple Sony 40". They seemed to have quite a bit of stock.
Wall-mount prices were decent. $50 for the tilting unit.
They were still figuring out prices for some stuff. Might be some good deals late Sunday.
damnit.. too bad my bro didnt know about this or i didnt tell him.. he needs a mount.. guess he will have to get it from only best rated :/

You can still try going to HDTV themselves and ask... be polite, say you had something to do and couldn't get to the sale, I'm sure they'll do something for you.

went to the sale just to take a look - there was a line up to get in at around 3 - waited for about 15 minutes - then when i got in, it was pretty busy - there were some pretty good deals - i am in the market for a tv but didn't really expect to pick one up - but was deciding between the 52" V5100 ($1599) and the 52" Z5100 ($2099) - ended up with the Z5100. I am satisfied with the price I paid. but did notice them marking the prices up & down on a few items during the time that i was there.

I noticed that some people there were trying to get an even better deal (e.g. no tax). They'd make a deal with the HDTV sales guy and he'd say ok, here's my business card - come to the shop and we'll make a deal (as long as you pay cash) :) So I guess the prices weren't the lowest that they could have been. Some things were already being marked up like the HD PVR ($399).

Yea, Wondering if this was a good deal as well? They had it advertise as $1399 originally and then marked it down to $1199.
Sig Electronic has it for $1,369.99 CAD cash price. Maybe that why they marked it down after someone complained?

Yeah, you're probably right. I don't need the Elite player for video upconversion since I try and stick with BDs. If I can't, I have a Samsung bd-p1200 with a Silicon Optix upconverting chip for SD dvd.

I know the Samsung player is old but I have not come across another upconverting player that produced a better picture on my Samsung lcd tv. It was included for free with my tv.

Oh, I see now. For some reason, I assumed it was the current model 1600 when I saw that the model number started with a 1. Wouldn't know much about this player myself then, as I mainly did research on players I can get on the market now.
I'm a bit greedy and picked up the player hoping it will also double as a CD player - I was wrong. Might look into the Oppo BluRay now and sell this one back to the community.

The player doesn't playback audio CDs? I was interested in the Oppo as well for its universal disc playback sysyem (sacd, dvd-a, dvd-video, BD) but I have the Samsung player and a Liteon bd-rom for my htpc. I was really impressed with the excellent reviews the Oppo has received; however, I want to get a new tv. Since I don't have very many sacd or dvd-a discs, the Oppo will have to wait for now.

too bad my 57" Hitachi rear-projection HDTV is still going on strong. 6.5 years so far... haven't even changed any of the bulbs yet. They really built those things to last! Otherwise I'd be hunting for an LCD
