Black Friday 2009 (Nov 27th) is quickly approaching so I figured it's about time to start this thread seeing as the ads are slowly starting to trickle onto the BF websites. :)
To start off here are some BF websites where the leaked ads will end up. I'll update as the ads go up on the sites. Some are quicker than others but eventually they will all have every ad up.
www.bfads.net My personal favourite and one of the quickest to get ads up.

lol office max sent a law firm after the site, so they pulled it down in less than 24 hrs from when it was posted.
the sears flyer is that for US or Canada?

It's still on at least 2 of the sites I posted Gambit. ;) C&D letters are just part of the game. Heck Walmart preemptively sent all the sites C&D letters already and their ad is no where to be found as of yet, LOL!
A ttip for those who have never really checked the sites is when you see an ad go up save it to your hard drive. It may disappear so if it's an ad you're interested in it's best to save it at this point.
edit... BF is US only so the ads will be good in US stores only.

I like the C&D letter from OfficeMax with the enclosure of the ad showing the lawyer (or more likely law clerk) playing Spider Solitaire... LOL what an idiot to not clean that up before sending a legal document :)

Wow, CSK'sMom you are sure hardcore, considering there's still a month to go.
Perhaps if I lived near the border I would be interested in it too, but I don't. I have to imagine it'd be pretty packed too!

LOL! It's all about the planning hairball. As ads come out you decide what you're after and from where and plan which stores to hit. The other thing is that there are so many door crashers that you need to know if that's a store that you *really* need to be there to line up for when the doors open. Hubby takes the day off work every year and we're usually on the bridge by 4am or earlier (dependent on what time stores are opening). We aim to get all, or very close to all of our Christmas shopping done on BF.
Packed can be an understatment, for sure! We don't mind it though as we always have a plan for each store so we're pretty good and getting in and getting what we want. Usually it takes us longer waiting in line to cash out than anything else. :(

They can at some bridges. Here in Niagara the bridges can be really busy on the Thursday and through Thursday night. This is due to the Outlet Mall usually opening at midnight. We're usually on the Rainbow by 4am and zip right through with plenty of time to get in line at Walmart for opening at 5am.

hmm I might join the bandwagon this year and see what the fun is. I wonder how busy Watertown will be though as I don't want to drive to Syracuse as it's too far. Is there normally super hot deals?

Yes there are always super hot deals on BF. Everywhere will be *very* busy. It's not uncommon at some of the popular malls to hit traffic jams miles before ever getting to the mall and an hr or more to find a parking spot. People line up for hrs before stores open. Think our Boxing Day on steroids.

Depending on the store....complete pandemonium.

It's not always pandemonium. I did Black Friday in the Buffalo, NY area in 2006 and 2007, and Best Buy was very organized and well planned in 2007, with an orderly line, police crowd control, only a few people allowed in at a time, etc. I lined up at 4am. By then all the doorcrashers were gone, I believe, but I was going for smaller items. I just wanted to experience the "fun" and hype, when actually it's a stressful day. Personally, I think Black Friday and Boxing Day are both overrated. Maybe that's because I don't actually have lots of Christmas shopping to do, and because I'm not an impulsive shopper, I mostly just buy things I actually need.

It all depends on the mood of the BSO. We've been waved through on BF with between $1000 and $1500 US worth of stuff. Last year was the first time we'd been pulled over for taxes (duty is almost never applied as most things are duty free) on BF in 4 years IIRC.

Guess its better @ BC (at least in terms of border crossing). What i generally do is gather 2-3 cars (me + gf, parents, cousin/other relatives) and we cross together after what i guess could be referred to as a thanksgiving dinner then cross the border (or wait to cross). Once we cross, we hit outlets for clothes, etc as most of their door opens much earlier. After that its a quick meal @ a "insert 24 hour food place" then goto a mall (bells fair) and split up lining up at different stores and try to get everything we want (doesn't always happens but splitting up into groups of 2-3 seems to help our chances of at least getting something). Use Cell phone to contact each other, talk/etc while waiting in line and meet back up around 9-10am before heading back to BC.

Most of the Outlet Malls (Prime, Tanger, Chelsea) open at midnight (12:01am) on Black Friday. The line-ups can start at the more popular stores on Thursday evening. A few years ago we pulled into the Grove City outlet at around 5am Friday (on our way home from Myrtle Beach) and it was still quite busy. Lot's of deals still to be had but the door crashers were long gone.
There are lot's of unbelievable deals in the ads (mostly electronics) but usually limited to the first 10, 20 or 30 customers so the line-ups for these items start very early. There are still lot's of great deals available to those not willing to line-up for 8 hours though. Just go with a plan.

Lowes is now up. They are taking a proactive approach this year and released a list of 25 doorcrashers on their own website at midnight.

I cant wait to scoop up the deals. We usually head over at 3 or 4 in the morning and hopefully only spend a couple of hours in line. The deals are always incredible and I have rarely missed a door crasher. The Americans are way smarter than to limit door crashers to 20 or 30 of each item....It is usually like 200 or more.

Walmart does pre- Black Friday sales every weekend in Nov. which mainly concentrate on electronics. Their first ad is now up. Looks like some good deals. The smoking hot one seems to be Xbox 360 Arcade bundle for $199 and get a $100 gift card. The elite bundle is $299 and the gift card offer applies to it too!

What specifically are you guys planning on grabbing? Looking at all the stuff on bfads.net, I have to say, I am VERY unimpressed. I am having a hard time finding a deal even worth getting locally, let alone diving across the border.

For us brunes, hubby hasn't decided on a tv yet. If the right deal comes along we might bite. Generally we're after NCAA/NFL clothing, other clothes like the teenage humour t-shirts and the dreaded teen girl brands, dvd's (target always has great deals on BF), maybe sporting goods (snowboard and/or snow shoes). GPS units are on our list this year for sure though. Hubby wants a new one and our oldest has asked for one. I'm seriously looking at the inflatables in the HD ad, much to hubby's displeasure, LOL!

We see a lot of jewellery on sale from those ads. We're looking to score some wedding bands for my wedding in Feb. 2010. Also looking to get a TV for the media room, 32" to 40" @ $600 tops.
Best Buy also posted their ads and they've got a few DVD's, Blu-Rays, and some games for PS3 that I need to catch up (RE5, Fallout 3, etc.)

I'm not sure what I'm getting this year. Hubby wants a bigger monitor. Last year we got another 42" Toshiba for $500 for the bsmt.
I buy video games, dvds, gadgets, etc. for gifts and stocking stuffers. Last year I also got some nice diamond earrings for 80% off. Some suits for work. Shoes (BOGO$1).
Basically I love that when I give a gift that person most likely won't have seen it at any dept store. :) And of course I love the excitement ;)

Yep. Niagara Fashion Outlets is "opening" at 11pm with a tailgate type party and stores open at midnight. Keep checking their webpage for each stores sales/events. Some are already up but from experience they never put them all up on the website.

Also watching the situation closely and already pre-ordered a bunch of items (Amazon/eBay etc) for shipment to the UPS store.
Radio Shack BF ad posted...
Disappointed that all the local and BF "sales" are for the lower end GPS units, not the higher featured sets like Garmin Nuvi 7x5 series. Oh well, Amazon's selling it for $100 less than Costco here (plus free ship), so I guess I can't be too greedy :)

sovexxed, Walmart is going to be a very different experience this year due to last year's trampling death. They are calling it "The Event" to begin with. The stores are staying open through Thanksgiving Day for starters. Doorcrasher pallets will be spread throughout the store, mainly in the grocery side in Supercenters, and clearly marked (supposedly with color coded balloons). Lines will be roped off for each pallet and tickets handed out. They are even saying that you will only be allowed to leave the line for 15 minutes and after that you'll loose your spot. Lots more security this year as well. So all in all... no lining up outside in the cold and no mad rush through the doors. Between the new procedures and the new Supercenter it should be interesting, to say the least...

CSK'sMom. I read that about WM as well. But I'm torn. The store I go to is also a supercentre open 24hrs. In the past I go just before midnight and I take advantage of the Thanksgiving Day sales :D. Put the stuff in the car and get back in line for the Friday sale.
Very well organized and if you're early enough you get a chair so you can sit in line and nice and warm.

Check the Black Friday forum at Slick Deals. All the BF sites got pre-emptive cease and desist letters from Walmart and have pretty much removed any mention of the leaked ad. SD is the brave one... for the moment anyway! Just remember it's not the full ad, only 5 or so pages out of 32 or 34.

The lines and chaos are everywhere. It's what BF is all about. A few of the BF sites have iPhone apps available that you may want to look into. Because I've posted many of the BF dedicated websites I'm not too interested in c&p'ing the text lists of the ads. It's not fair to the dedicated sites that take hrs doing so and have worked years to build up relationships with the corporations to allow them to post the actual ads KWIM?
