**Updated with pics**
Just picked up my DJ Hero Renegade edition and I was all excited and ready to start it up until I saw all the dings on the metal edging of the case. Then I took a better look and guess what? The fake black leather had a HUGE scratch along the side and ran from one end to the center of the case. Needless to say, I am pissed! Especially for the price I paid! Anyone know if EB would usually exchange it? I am definitely not opening the game or doing anything with it. What a disappointment.
From what I see, I really don't know if the extra price is worth it at all. The case is REALLY poorly made and the material is less than average imo. The fake leather is the stuff you see on cheap a$$ briefcases and I think it is actually a paper (or something cheap like that) "leather-look" vanier. VERY disapointed. I might ask for a straight out refund and get the regular edition instead. The construction of the case is less than average. LOOKS REAL CHEAP!
The legs are attached to the case, but I never looked to see what material the actual legs were made of as I am going to bring it back tomorrow. The threaded part is built into the bottom of the case and that is plastic..so probably will wear or break after excessive on/off removal of the legs.
I really wanted to play tonight to! DAM.
Anyone know EB's policy on this? Anyone else care to share their feedback on the Renegade edition?
Bad shot but see there are dings and dents all along the metal boader

Since you haven't actually opened the game from the shrinkwrap then they may take it back. Explain all the problems and they might take sympathy on you.
EB should resell the set as used but they'll probably treat it as a gutted game instead. Though I would be quite upset if I was buying a new $219 item to find out it was someone else's return.

u should be able to get an exchange..
i got an exchange for the NBA 2K10 anniversary edition as the locker door of mine was bent and the sides were dinged up a lot.. and even if the game is opened, its ok to exchange.. cuz on the spot, u can just open the new one they give u and u can give them the sealed game from that one...
in the end when i got the new one, the locker was still dinged up too (packaging i guess) but atleast the door was in a little better shape lol

how big is this thing??
Its really freaking heavy, I carried it though the mall for like 10 minutes and I was almost sweating though I was wearing several layers.
I thought it was heavier than the Rock Band box.

Your all wrong:( Apparently the couple of EB's I lugged it to ALL said no way they can take it back....Even if the game is not opened. They showed me the email and I was told I had to deal directly with Activision. I Knew I should have got it at BestBuy or Walmart. I doubt they would be so tight. As for the pics, I need to setup an account somewhere so I can upload them as RFD doesn't let me post pics.

They just didn't want to deal with returning it to their supplier/Activision themselves. I know when I had a defect with Metroid Prime Trilogy (steelbook case was bent and broken) I took it back to EB and they gave me a new copy with no questions asked. Their return policy should cover exchanges at least.
I guess you got some stubborn clerks. :(

I think it's more to do with the horrible track record of faulty Rock Band guitar/drum defects. When that game first came there were huge amounts of faulty guitars. Retailers couldn't deal with people burning through stock of guitars, so you were directed to deal with the manufacturer directly. The sets quickly came with a huge sticker and bright piece of paper stating that.
They're probably assuming the same stance on any large music peripheral now.

As mentioned, I just updated pics. Just wondering if any one else had issues with their Renegade edition?? I am thinking of selling it off to my friends to get the regular edition. from what I see, not much diff except color and the bonus CD, and of course the poorly manufactured case.
Anyone else have issues with any versions of DJ Hero?

Yes, I got mine from in store FS and when I opened it the batteries were flying around. Another POS from Activision yet charging premium prices. The actual turntable is really no different from the regular one. Not like there are metal parts are anything. Just some stupid gold crap and piano black which shows finderprints all over the damn thing, a la PS3.
My case was okay but had those same corner dents. The faux leather on the outside was fine but there was a score on the inside of the case which I do not really care about. Putting the thing together was fine as they have marked points on the legs so you can line it up properly. Not the most sturdiest thing and definitely not what they were really promising. Not sure if this will hold up to multiple set ups and take downs.
Honestly I am sick and tired of this crap with limited editions. That is why I am skipping on the goggle version of COD:MW2, because garanteed those will be a capital S.
The DJ Hero experience itself is quite deep and the way they remixed every single song is quite cool. a lot of replay but honestly for the price tag for the renegade edition they should have included 2 turntables. Even though you can add a guitar to the mix, until standalone turntables become available this is generally not a party game, of which it should be, but rather an individual experience. Online play is standard against mode. Nothing special.
As for OP, deal with Activision directly. Tell them you want a full replacement. Probably the same deal they went through with the crappy drums in Rockband and then the guitar strums.

Thanks for the great reply. At least I am not the only one who thought this was a overpriced and cheaply made toy. I was expecting the case to be of decent quality given the price point...hell I could have bought myself another PS3 or 360 instead (not that I need anymore). Point being we shell out a lot of clams for all these recent LE versions and alot of them are packed with garbage....however there are some that are great value, however I can tell you this, if you want to get a Renegade (good luck finding one except if you want the Wii version)..DON'T! Just buy the regular version and save yourself the headache!!
Cheers!
