The Mediterranean will still be pretty cold in March.

Norwegian Cruise Lines and MSC also have cruises in March.

As for the weather, it depends what the Mediterranean destinations are. The thing is the tourist business in the ports will not quite be ready for business as it is still off season. You can choose to stay aboard and enjoy the ship.

One other issue you should consider is the possibility of a snow storm in Canada. I tried to fly out to Paris last year during March Break but our flights got cancelled.
So if you go, buy cancellation insurance.
Personally, if it's March Break, I'd go to a closer destination for cruising like down south. Then a 3 - 4 day cruise doesn't sound so bad and can go during mid-week too. But if it's a Meditteranean Cruise, you want it to be at least 7 days and that leaves you very little options to fly over.

please elaborate.
They are the only cruiseline with sail date for mediterranean March 14 for 7 nights(March Break GTA school board).All others seems longer or do not sail from the date.
At least they may have Israeli security guards on board against pirates like another cruiseline MSC?

there's nothing to elaborate on ... it's the cheapest cruiseline so you get the lowest quality cruise and the lowest quality fellow passengers
as well it's very italian based .... a big chunk of the passengers are italian ... and the cruise is obviously catered to their needs
everyone smokes as well

MSC is an Italian-based cruise line. It's inexpensive yes, but not crappy... just mediocre.
Never sailed them, but what ssainani says is generally what I hear about the line (especially the smoking and European passengers vs. North American), and I hear they're heavy on the pasta dishes (since pasta's a cheap main meal), so if you don't like pasta, you probably don't want to cruise MSC (although generally kids sail free - March break because you're a teacher or because you have kids?).

A rather bigoted thing to say isn't it? I have never been but have freinds and collegues who very much liked the cruise line.

So is Costa but, that is probably why they are there in March as opposed to the other lines that chase the tourist season and are still in the Carribean?
March break is a North American phenomenon. European kids don't get that time off.
OP, if you have questions about either of these cruise lines, go to www.cruisecritic.com. Go to their forums and ask away.
They even have a sub forum for the very cruise you are looking at on the Fortuna;
