Hi all,
I recently tried to return something at Winners, the tag was still on, and I still have the receipt. I bought a Gap-brand blazer (men's). When I returned it, they said that they don't sell Gap stuff, and that the price tag is wrong. So, I'm basically stuck with the item...
So I'm wondering, what does the price tag at Winners say? There's DEPT/RAYON (which I assume is department!), CAT (category, style of clothing?), STYLE (type of shirt I guess?) and "BEST BRAND" and "TYPE".
I'm just wondering if I've been screwed, if someone switched an item for the gap blazer, which now I'm stuck with...

I know of many people who buy things from Winners, take off the original tag, place tag on an old used random piece of clothing, and return the old used clothing for a refund! Some of the stores have systems in place where they can read the tag information and find out more about the original piece of clothing but most stores are not integrated through an online database that allows them to do so. Horrible but true. :(

Man, is there anything that people wont do? Sounds like Winners is now a thrift shop.

A tag from winners should clearly state winners at the top. They are all the same no matter what you buy.

This is actually pretty common. People take things home and then reattach the tags to something else. Often the CSR don't pay attention to the item and accept it back and put it back on the floor. Often the tags will be generic for these items and don't describe the product itself. Unfortunately for you, you are probably SOL.
Example: I was in a Winners looking for a winter jacket/trench about two years ago. There was a grey trench on the rack from Simpsons (the old defunct department store). They had no idea where it came from. Someone had bought a trench and was able to return a newish looking Simpsons jacket instead because they CSR wasn't paying attention.

I've come across quite a few items that that's happened and it's really too bad. Most common are people returning fake designer jeans ... ugh. I've seen that a couple times and the one time I brought it to a manager's attention I was given a hard time for even pointing it out.
Best one was seeing a mid 90s Canucks Starter brand jacket (old skate logo!) on the rack on sale for $99.99. I had to take a picture of it before showing it to the manager.
I think for bigger ticket items like jackets they've started marking the back of the side tags attached to the jacket itself so it's not possible to swap. They mark it with a silver pen with the store number I think.
OP - I think the only thing you can do is to bring it to another winners and see if another SA will take it back.
