I forward my UTOR to a GMail account, so I can get push-notifications on my desktop (don't want to use Outlook, don't have it).
I then forward the incoming mail from GMail back to my UTOR (lol), so I can keep a physical copy (in case of disputes and what-not).
Problem is, my UTOR doesn't seem to show the forwarded e-mail from GMail?
Anyone know why? Is it a problem on GMail's side, or UTOR's side?

Don't forward from UTor, this is a mistake (you can lose emails and what not).
Get Gmail to retrieve emails from UTor (POP3-check your Gmail settings). This will leave a copy in your UTor while getting a copy in your Gmail for your push notifications. PM or post here if you need more help.
Check mail using POP3:
HBP@utoronto.ca
^^Works flawlessly.

Thanks!
The only problem is that it's retrieving all of my old emails in my UTOR, dating back to 2nd semester last year
It's OK though, I can back them up and keep them in GMail and keep my UTOR empty.

I have both gmail and UTORmail configured on Outlook 2007 as IMAP. You can copy and move emails between the two that way. I think that's possible in Thunderbird, but I haven't tried it. Configuring them as IMAP is the important part; it won't work if you have it configured to use the POP3 protocol.
As for how to do this, there are ample documentation on the Internet as well as the U of T Info Commons help desk website.

Thanks! Although, GMail seems to fetch every 5-10 minutes - it isn't push, but still good enough!

At some point in the past two years, there were issues forwarding mail from UTOR to Gmail. It was VERY slow (it sometimes took days). I recently signed up for a Google Apps account and I'm forwarding my UTOR mail to that, and it seems to be instantaneous--and reliable.
Fetching with POP is slow (Gmail might take up to an hour between checks) and I prefer to receive my e-mail much faster.
