Just picked up this TV. I had BB price match it at 1999.99 down from their 2699.99 for a final price of 1929.99.
Had them price match from here

What to get, the larger size 58S1 or better 50V10? Is bigger better?
I already have a 50PZ700 and although I like the size I would love a bigger set, but I'm sure I'll be happy with the higher quality 50V10 that can do 24p playback at 96Hz and better blacks. What to do?

Why wouldn't they? It's local and advertised on their website, as long as they have stock BB should do it.

Since they are an authorized dealer as long as they have stock they will price match. They called to check and they had stock so they matched. Don't have a scanner so it will have to wait until Monday for me to post the receipt.

Not sure about Montreal but BB in the GTA will often PM as long as the criteria are met at least from my experience.
For an even sweeter deal, get Futureshop to PM -10% the difference, come back on the 27th, 28th or 29th for an additional $100 off coupon. Also if you have any Gift Cards now's the time to use them. I'm gonna try tomorrow.

I would spend an extra $60 at FS for an aspartame sweet deal.
FS TCP54S1 $2499.00
ELS TCP54S1 $1899.00
FS PM should be: 1899 - 0.1*(2499-1899) = $1839!!!
Quite a bit closer to us appliance which has it at US $1349.00
I'm in Calgary but I'm pretty tempted to try this tomorrow. I've been eyeing up the 50/54 S1 but the US prices have made me hesitate buying in Canada. The price difference has been ridiculous with the 50S1 going for under US $1000 but in Canada lucky to get under CAD $2000.

Futureshop does not have the 50 inch V10 in store, on their website anyway.
I tried pming at Visions, the guy said the store did not have a "store front" and refused the PM. Also went to London Drugs and that guy said it was way below cost and he refused to do it. As I have no BB, I may be out of luck.
EDIT: and if you go under the "contact us" section of the website, there is clearly a head office and distribution center. I am not sure what this "store front" is the guy at visions was talking about...sounds like an attempt to get out of a pm. Any ideas?

well I have NO idea how it worked, but I managed to get the PM at BB.. I went in and they said sure no problem.. on top of that, the tv was oos at electronicsforless.ca.. I thought I was definitely doomed (it was in stock yesterday when I printed the deal)... guy at BB was like, well sometimes we can still pm.. I've got to check with the manager.. I was like ok sounds good thinking that there was no chance.. the manager was busy and just sort of shrugged and said go ahead.. after I paid for it and they went to check for delivery they were like WOW.. what a good deal.. I didn't think it would go through at all. I've tried to PM 3-4 times at BB for tvs and they never allowed it, even though they were legit.. this was the longest shot, and I got it..
$1929.99 PLUS free shipping.. WOW.. thanks op.. I have been wanting to get a tv for about 2-3 months.. missed out on the FS deal for the Samsung... last week I tried to PM sears for the 50G10 at $1899.. ended up working and had it for $1935 or whatever with shipping, but I screwed something up on the checkout and didn't realize it so I didn't get it.. all I can say is I've been on RFD for 7-8 year at least (lurker before then), and this is one of the better deals I got..
Thanks again OP!!!! you know it's good when you get it for $150-200 cheaper than it sells in the US!!

How are you guys able to get free shipping on the BestBuy price match? I'm confused.
On BB's webpage for for the Panasonic TC-P50V10 (http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926HDS0010126000&catid=28399), it does say "free shipping on orders over $39". But when you click on it, the "Free Shipping" page has a disclaimer: excludes TVs 40" of larger
Do they accept local free delivery but shipping throughout Canada is rejected for TVs 40" or larger?

I bought the TV in store... the TV WAS in stock as well which is why the free shipping was even more of a bonus.. when I was in the middle of buying it, I told the guy I want it shipped as it didn't fit in my car, he said no problem... Shipping was $49.99 or something like that.. I said no problem since I was saving and extra 10% on the $700... he disappeared for a while to find where the tv was (wasn't on the floor).. I thought for sure he would comeback and say I couldn't get the PM... he came back, said he found the TV and that someone told him it was free shipping!! definitely no complaints! I don't think you can avoid paying shipping if you buy the tv online...

For those of you who may be concerned about ordering from Electronics for Less. I purchased this set online last Friday and it was delivered the following Thursday. Delivery was free. The set arrived in perfect condition and it is amazing. I couldn't believe the price when I saw it. $500.00 less than Bay Bloor, $800.00 less than Best Buy. For those of you unable to land a Kuro at a reasonable price, this is a very close second to the Pioneers in every review I have seen.

I've been looking at Plasma TVs and the Pioneer is way out of my price range. I currently have a 46" Samsung lnt4665 and want a bigger TV for the basement. Would the 50" Panny be much of an upgrade in terms of picture size from a 46?

As the other guy said it is bigger but you will see a big difference in the quality of the picture. Put your old one and the Panny side by side and you will see a big difference especially on sports and movies but for gaming the LCD is better

almost 20% more screen area, i'd say its an upgrade.
in the case of home theatre TV viewing, bigger = better.

For an upgrade, I was also referring to an increase in screen size and pq, not just pq. I guess I forgot to mention that in my original post.

i find lcds tend to blur and in some games (like rock band) have a greater measurable lag.

I would say go check it out in the store and see if you can justify the price for it. It would be an upgrade, sure, but depending on what your finances are at it may not be worth it. Up to you.

Just calculated total price, if you live in Quebec, better order online from electronics for less than PM with BB or FS local. Online order only charge GST and shipping is free, so total becomes less.

The V10 has some worthy improvements, like the ability to properly display 24P material, THX, better processing, slimmer design, supposedly better blacks just to name a few.
I'm in the same boat, trying to decide between getting this or the 54S1, that's why I would love to get the 54V10, the best of both worlds.

I'm in the west island and have pm'ed at bb/fs many times. Including pm'ing stores like gibby's and sigelectronics. Yes, some reps give you a hard time, but as long as the item is in stock and you have proof of the price, there is nothing they can do (other than add shipping cost to the item). If a rep is giving you a hard time, ask for the store manager. Stay calm, and stand your ground.

I went to BestBuy in Ottawa and they price-matched the P50V10 at $2099. I was wondering why they didn't give me the 10% of the difference (I didn't ask at the time), but your explanation makes sense. Since they didn't have any in stock, I was given a raincheck for 30 days at that price. But I realized that I would still have to pay the $50 delivery charge, so I ended up ordering one from ElectronicsForLess.ca and getting the free shipping (plus their 2-year warranty, one extra than BB).

So as FS pt-claire. At one time I tried to PM a TV stand with Centre HiFi, which is just next door. I went to FS after checked stock in Centre HiFi, the manager refused, said he called and they're out of stock. Then he tried to make a counter offer. In the end I PM'ed at at-water store and got free delivery. Since then, I just return online orders to that store.

I checked with them, and their warranty is through a third-party company, W3 Solutions. Getting a little nervous that I ordered from them now...anyone have any bad things to say about the company? Worst comes to worst I can ship the tv back to them at my cost. Hope there are no problems though.

I ended up getting this deal (thanks OP!).. and as a side note, I bought the above wall bracket.. didn't want to spend $350-400 at BB, so I checked out online.. the above bracket is actually a Monoprice bracket... came to $120 shipped to my door.. it's pretty good and strong.. took about 45 minutes-1 hour to install tops with 2 people.. sticks out a little more from the wall than I wanted, but can't complain since the 50v10 is pretty thin to begin with.
