Date place or fast eat? They are like the total opposite...
I love Earl's, and also Moxie's.

Avoid Lemongrass, it is very expensive for what you get.
There's also many options in the SQ1 area.

I love Earl's, and also Moxie's.That's because the girls that work at these two restaurants are...HOT!

I've never been to Earl's but I do agree that the Moxie's waitresses are hot. I heard from one person who applied to work there that they actually have a dress code saying that the skirt has to be a certain minimum length ABOVE the knee.
Guess this makes me a true RFDer, as I don't go to Moxie's anymore because the value is poor. You pay too much for what you get. I can get three times as much food for half the money at a local mom&pop Chinese place.

I bet the scenery at your favourite mom & pop Chinese restaurant isn't as...well...let's say, "tasty"?

I don't know, what real benefit do you get from just looking at cute waitresses? I bet they get hit on 20 times per hour, so there won't be any "special leftovers" to take home.
The "scenery" at restaurants is not a big thing for me. I fall into the "Cheap Indians (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjFvJAKLFs4) category.

What, can you expense them too? :lol:Hahaha. Nope. No expensing that. Anyway, back to the OP's topic...

So to answer the OP's question...
For good date places I would only go to Earl's on days when they take reservations. (Certain days are first come first served.) Moxie's is a low-risk choice. I just don't like lemongrass as I had a bad experience there. Johnny Rocket is too casual / gimmicky for a date.
For fast eats, consider McDonald's.

On the Curve (across from Square One in one of the commercial buildings) is a great place to bring a date. Trendier and a little more upscale than Moxies, and in the evenings (not sure if it's only weekends) there usually is a live band in the bar area so that kind of changes the pace of the restaurant a bit...

Definitely not true. I worked at Moxie's in London for a month last year (couldn't handle the school/job load) and I have a couple friends who work at the SQ1 location. It is true that you MUST wear a skirt if you are a hostess, but not mandatory if you are a waitress. But the truth is, that on the Moxie's application there is a place to put a headshot.

This was at the Guelph location so maybe it is different there.
