If you want something better looking or like nike... you can go with air max 90's or 95's. I find they are comfy and look nice as well.

if your feet are wide, the airmax 90 might squeeze the forefoot too tight.
New balance might be a better choice, and the asics

My Asics Kayano 15

http://tokyomarathon.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/asics-kayano-15s.jpg

I've been a shoe connoisseur all my life and have had every shoe for every occasion. Nothing came close to this one in terms of comfort w/o insoles.

I'll never run again on Nikes.

I have a pair or air max 98s (original) that are EXTREMELY comfortable. I also have some retro air max 95s with the larger air units, but they are no where near as comfortable as the 98s.

My advice, air maxes are very comfortable, just don't buy the retros

I second the Asics shoes. Bought mine at ShowCompany / Shoewarehouse and nothing comes close to their level of comfort. However not all Asics are as good.

In terms of comfort New Balance hits the spot for sure.

just this particular model? or are their other models good as well? the thing about running shoes is that you have to know your foot type e.g. neutral, pronator, over pronator

go to RunningRoom and have a test. You wont regret doing the test, believe me.

I used to sell shoes so I would usually suggest asics or new balance. The people who are serious about running would listen and get them but the people who cared a lot of about looks wouldn't touch them. Running Room only sells serious running shoes so it may not be what the OP is looking for cuz he said he wanted something that looks fairly good. As for checking out your foot type you can usually tell just by looking at your current shoes and how the heel portion wears out.

Agree.

but believe me a normal person wouldn't know about their foot-type just by looking at it. I was dumbfounded myself when I discovered about that.

NB has good casual shoes in my opinion...and I use my Asics for casual as well ;) Probably the best $120> I bought ever.

Are there any places to try that instores?
I'm a little hesitant to try on shoes that don't require socks.

But I am a proud owner of 2 Asics so far, and I will continue to purchase Asics from now on.

and yes, check out a Running Room, They'll suggest what shoes best fit your type of foot.

What are you using this shoe for? Do you even exercise? Or just the average walking around?

I have a buddy who swears by new balance shoes. You should definitely give them a try.

nike zoom air cushioning without a doubt.
i have found that they vary between shoes
for instance, the foamposites and vc 4s i had felt amazing
but some other shoes i've tried on with zoom air isnt as strong as the two aforementioned ones.
