I am weary now of buying items from Forever 21 or Urban Outfitters (online store), because some items may contain lead, and one item at UO's site has a disclaimer saying the item is NOT in accordance to the Proposition 65 law from California.
I read about the law afterwards, and it means items like clothes (faux leather), purses, Aldo Shoes, etc contain traces of lead, that is potentially dangerous to people.
I wanted to order something from UO, but I'm on the fence about this one. I don't know how much or how little lead there is, but if it can't meet the Prop 65 standards, than that makes sense my city's UO doesn't have this item, yet it carries the brand name's other stuff (stuff I've seen online).
Do you guys/girls still buy faux leather stuff, and did you know about the lead before you read this topic?

I don't buy faux leather... rather buy real leather. I've never heard of clothing that contained lead because won't it be heavier?

A lot of the cheap jewelery from dollarama, ardene ect conatins that.
I usually stick to silver because of that.
Also quite a few cosmetics that are not made in Canada and the US they contain metals in them for the colours.
I usually do not buy fake leather as real thesedays can be cheaper.
A lot of those pleather bags ect are like $100-150 when you can buy a nice leather bag for less if you look.
I also am not impressed w Stitches, last year they were selling a sweater with real fur and it was not labeled and the salespeople in 2 stores told me it was fake fur.
It was a white sweater that had rabbit fur on the front only.

Lead really won't impose that much danger to older people (not infants), and if you don't put it in your mouth. I watched a show that was talking about it.
And yes. Some lipsticks do contain lead.

Also I just remember reading that when they dye/color leather they also use metals and a lot of chemicals when they do that.
So not too sure if leather is really much better.
You can buy all natural leather though, but it is harder to find.
I think it is called vegetable tanned..not too sure.
I was also told that parabens in cosmetics are bad for you they can cause something or other and also just looking on the labels of some items I have here they contain parabens...
The US seems to be trying to get rid of that ingredient more than Canadian products lately though.
