Ok, so I may be opening a can of worms here, but wondering if there's a desirable level of energy and water consumption per person in a household?

This average will probably increase for larger family home sizes and households with fewer residents, but why don't we talk in terms of numbers.

Can we define a good energy saver in numbers?

OK, here's what I spend

My gas bill for last year was $600, supplemented with a woodstove.

My hydro bill I try to get it down to 25 Kwhr/day but it usually is about 30. We have an electric hot water heater and electric stove and dryer. I look at my neighbours meter as it is on the same side as our meter. We use about the same amount of electricity as an older single couple who use gas for everything.

Family of four, two young kids, smallish 3 bedroom home from the 70's

We try hard to conserve. This is RFD right?

Actuall, about electricty, it is a big pet peeve of mine that it is such a pain to stop phantom loads. I know economically it would not make sense but if a manufacuterer were to come out with a line of electronics that did not have a phantom load, I would replace all my electronics with then. I realize a PVR needs to draw power 24/7, but I don't want my TV,DVD player, mircowave, stove, washer, dryer, etc and on and on, to draw power 24/7
