Where to buy seabands (GTA area)?

We're going on a cruise and want to try to avoid any sea sickness. I've read about seabands on some of the cruise message boards but have looked in a few stores and haven't found them.

I was wondering if anyone knows where to buy them in the Mississauga/GTA area?

Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharma Plus have them, but you might have to check various locations.

The ones at Pharma Plus are a lot cheaper if I remember correctly.

for what it's worth ... personally i'd go to a doctor and get the prescription patch if you think it'll be a concern

or take some gravol

I tried those when I went to Greece in May and I didn't think they made a big difference. I think having a full stomach before you board the boat and eating ginger candy helps more.

I'm not sure if they work. I'm also not sure that we'll be seasick, but just in case I want to take something just in case. I was also looking at ginger pills as well as a non-drowsy medication. I've taken gravol before and sometimes it can make you sleepy. The cruise message boards talk about a medication called Bonine (or the generic meclizine) that is supposed to work well like gravol but be non-drowsy.

I figure we'll bring a few things "just in case". I also understand the ship has Bonine pills available free of charge, but thought we'd bring our own in case they run out or something.

I agree that I've heard the patch works but since I'm not sure that we'll have problems, I'm hoping it won't be necessary!

I bought them, but I have yet to have the need to use them.

I usually take half a gravol. I read they arent very effective, but I thought I would try them as they are relatively cheap.

Also have them in Walmart. Check the end of the aisles where they have pill containers, ear plugs, eye patches, etc. Try the Gravol ginger pills. I've never used them...haven't gotten seasick...but I'm a "just in case" kinda person too!

I've seen them in dollar stores. I think Dollarama might have them.

I don't know if they really work or not but I wore them for an entire cruise and never got sick. I usually have a pretty weak stomach.

There was a time when the ocean was pretty choppy. Dishes were flying across the table during dinner and a couple of people lost their balance. My friend threw up in the ice bucket right after dinner. He wasn't wearing any Seabands. I was fine. :lol:

Thanks everyone. I went to SDM and Walmart today. Shoppers had them on sale for $13.49 and Walmart had them at their everyday price of $11.22. So, I bought them and hopefully they work...maybe a psychological thing as well.

Hopefully the seas aren't too rough (no flying dishes!) but good to be prepared just in case.

i went on a cruise years ago and my parents bought the seaband for me. didn't work at all. i couldn't even sit up, had to spent an entire day laying in bed. eventually got the medication offered on the ship which really worked. i was up and running around the rest of the trip, even during a massive storm.

however, a family i met had some kids who had the seaband. when they weren't wearing it, they were super sick but were fine when they had it on.

I think it is one of those situations where different things are effective for different people. Firstly, really hoping we don't get sick at all - BUT just in case want to be prepared with the sea bands, ginger pills and traditional medication just in case we need something! Hopefully one of them would work if needed:)
