Currently it is scheduled for the GameCube (yay!).
Hopefully they don't decide along the way to move this over to the next Nintendo system.

Almost guaranteed this won't make it out for the gamecube...nintendo has confirmed on multiple occassions that there will only be two more zelda games on the gamecube (as its near the end of its cycle)...four swords and wind waker 2..and given the look I don't really see this fitting as wind waker 2. BUT lets hope for a launch title for the next system ;)

wow, it's about damn time! I've been waiting since Ocarina of Time, after 2001 demo, I was so excited, then WW came...it was good, but not what I expected it to be. I'm pretty sure many Zelda fans have been waiting for a "mature" game. I hope the majority of gameply involves grown up Link, if not all gameply.

i read in some article somewhere that there isn't going to be a WW 2... this is the next game they're making, however it's supposed to be based off the WW engine... and the fact that they're pretty far along in development is a ray of hope... however i remember the day when i was reading about eternal darkness on N64... which was pushed onto GC eventually... and i've been waiting for Too Human also from Silicon Knights, but I'm hearing it'll probably be pushed onto next system... even though i think it was originally planned as PSX, then cube, now next gen... i guess all you can do is hope...

I have a GC and I am drifting slowly away from Nintendo.

My peeve is that all their games are always based on the same characters, Mario, Luigi, Zelda, etc...

They make original games and good ones at that but based ont he same characters... yawn

PS2 and xbox dont?... lol
trust me.. its just those 2 consoles are newer starters then nintendo.. they would LOVED to have the base that nintendo has and the characters that the older generation associate to gaming. those 2 consoles already started to reuse characters... (jak 3, ratchel and crank, GT4, Halo 1.5, DOA)

its all in the demographics. known and proven characters will sell. u think of mario, zelda, u think of nintendo. Same as halo and GT for other consoles. First party gaming is what nintendo is all about. they know how to work their own hardware and always able to push the hardware to the limit, unlike the infamous PS2 launch games...

either way.. this game will sale millions, no questions asked. this game will appeal again to all ages, include all markets (asia, na, euro, aus) unlike halo which has a massive fanbase in na. this is game is THE bread and butter of nintendo. they released wind waker as cell shading in order to develop the fighting system and engine. and it turned out to be an awesome game (although the sailing i can do without). this game will be that same engine and upgrade and with RE4 or better graphics. expect this game to use all of GC hardware and be revolutionary once again. (OoT is still listed as the greatest game of all time... why?.. simply b/c back in the day.. the massive and different environment was unheard of.)

either way.. flop or not... getting this... looking forward to it...
man.. fighting with epona is so going to be sweet. hope they make a boss where u have to mount her to battle. =D

The most popular games this year are sequels.
There's simply less risk involved with more established franchises.

at least with the nintendo first parties, they really ARE different from one to the other (mostly, anyway)

Jak & Dak 3? Feels like the same game. Rachet and Clank? Same. game. Sly 2? ...worse, in fact IMO. and there's also ATV 3, GT4.. Hot Shots Golf 4

The only blockbuster game their pushing that I can think of that isn't rehash on PS2 this season is Killzone, (reminds me of Battlefield). Trust me. I tried looking at their holiday party. NADA.

I mean there ARE other games more original that that, but they're not pushing it. Katamari Damacy comes to mind, as well as Namco's Taiko Drum game...

I guess it's safe to say that games just aren't as original as they used to be. I remember back in the days of the NES where each sequel was completely different from one another. An example is the Super Mario Bros series. #1,2,3 all had a different look, different control scheme, with each newer one more complicated than the previous, but just as fun. Another example was the Zelda series. The first only allowed top view but the second was both a side scroller and top view. Nowadays each sequel looks more or less the same (eg. Metroid series) but if they can really pull this new Zelda off on Gamecube I'll take back everything I said :D

The worst one at killing a franchise is Sony.
3 (!!!!!) of these: Ratchet and Clank, Jak in a 5 year timespan (3 in the case of R&C) is overkill. At least Nintendo spaces it out to nearly average one per generation. There are already 2 Halos. They're all following the EA formula.
And Killzone is a HUGE POS disappointment. The framerate seems to dip to 3fps in many scenes. Sad plus the AI is non-existent and you feel like you're on rails. It makes for nice screenshots though :).

well.. in terms of rehashes there are examples for every system. cant be completely biased here. =D

XBox: Halo 1.5 is the biggest rehash to date, DOA series
PS2: RC:UYA, Jak 3, GT4 (if it ever comes out), GTA:SA
GC: MP:Echoes, Viewtiful Joe 2, SSB:M, MK: DD

and like someone mentioned before, we cant forget EA. Gotta love the irony of NHL 2005. Where is my NHL this season?!.. =\

*sigh*... i'll be really disappointing if new Zelda is a cross between OoT and windwaker. something like a remake of OoT with windwaker engine would be... the same and therefore a rehash. But then again, Nintendo has never disappointed me with Zelda before.. time will tell.

FYI: The Zelda series is a bigger seller then the Final Fantasy series. (can anyone tell me why do they still call it FF?... never fully understood why)

Pretty close I'd say. I think Res Evil 4 is pushing it to the max.
The GC is a very capable machine. Too bad developers just didn't want to spend any time on it and Nintendo didn't do a good enough job educating them on how to maximize the 'Cube graphically. Capcom was pretty much left to doing their own thing.
