Looks fun and maybe useful to; wondering how much coins it can hold.

But doesn't look promising. It doesn't even mention if it takes Twoonies/Loonies?

Saw one of this at Zellers the other day. They were priced at 9.99... too expansive for a piggy bank! :cheesygri
The label said it takes toonies and loonies. :D

Do they remember what the last total was? Or do you have to empty them and and feed them all back through each time you want to know what's in there? That would kind of defeat the object imo....

Why spend $15 to save coins? You'd have to fill the jar more than once or twice (depending on what coins are in there) to just break even.

I got one as a gag gift at Christmas two years ago. I don't even like it for FREE! Sometimes it doesn't register the coin, so I take the lid off and drop it through again (seems to happen more frequently with quarters). Then sometimes on the 2nd pass, it registers the coin from the first pass (thus counting it twice).
Either way, the total displayed is way off in the end. I believe the last time I emptied mine (approx. 25% full), it displayed $15x.xx, but it turned out to be off by more than $10.

Cool idea but like someone mentioned, it doesn't always register the correct amount. I have one and it seems to have a hard time distinguishing between pennies and dimes, especially if you feed it coins rapidly. It does remember your total as it never goes off... the amount stays lit at all time.

I'm not buying one, so that puts my collection $14.97 + tax further ahead!

Maybe somebody was taking off the lid and taking money out? :) I doubt it can keep track of withdrawals!

I bought the same one a few months back at Giant Tiger for under $10. It's not even worth 10cents.
The thing is pure GARBAGE! If you want to count a pocketfull of change expect to sit next to it for a good 5min. If you go too fast it'll skip the count. The spring mechanism where you put the coins in (that figures out the denomination) is so stiff that a 10yr old probably can't even use it.
P.O.S.!

What you really want is a machine which sorts the coins into denominations. Then you pack them in the rolls. Now you not only know what you have, it's easy to take to the bank.
Anyone know where to find one cheap that handles toonies and loonies (I sure as heck don't!)?

the plastic ones are better.. you don't need to count...but isn't there a plastic 5 level tray thing that you shake and it sorts all the coins?

Aww shucks - I read the topic thinking it also helps you roll up coins. I want one of those :(

I bought one for 10 bucks at XS Cargo. It's a joke for sure, but it's sort of amusing, for .5 second. And, people who drop by want to try it, so it does collect money for you - other people's money hehehe

Its not that expansive. It's actually quite small for a piggy bank. ;)

This deal should have been put out of its misery days ago.
i.e.: It's dead.
Hope it never comes back.

wow...what a waste of money.
At least if it SORTED the change THAT would've been slightly worthwhile.
At our grocery store we have a huge contraption that counts your change. No need to sort it. You just DUMP IT ALL in the slot, and it counts it for you., Then it spits out bills & exact change back.
Takes 7% processing fee LOLz. Now THAT'S a novelty. The kids love it.

But can you trust THEIR machine? You'd likely have to count the coins first anyway, and how do you dispute if the machine gives you an incorrect amount back?
