I'm having trouble finding winter gloves/mitts that stay on my 21 month old son. His daycare requires a light weight pair and a heavy duty water proof pair. I'm finding that whatever we purchase doesn't quite work - falls off easily, thumbs get stuck and mitts take forever to get their fingers through. I purchased a pair of heavy duty ones that zip up all the way, but they don't go over the jacket sleeve well. Just wondering if anyone can suggest a pair of gloves or mitts for a little pair of hands.

Also, any suggestions for winter boots?

Thanks

I remember children's place having mittens that have the thumbs and fingers all in one, so it makes it easier to put on little hands. also has velcro to tighten them.

Bonnie Togs has some lightweight fleece ones - great for this time of year. As for heavy duty that stay on, I found mitts that had really long cuffs/arms on them so once you put them on and then put on their jacket, they are so long they can't just pull them off. (They go under the jacket sleeve, not over it so they stay on better). I think that Bonnie Togs has them this year but as my kids are a bit older, I wasn't paying much attention. I also found some at Sears or Winners. You can also check once upon a child as they get some different new stock ordered in for winter.

for the light weight ones we used the MEC Toasty Mitts (http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=84552444262 7393&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302734891&bmUID=1255980865172). They are long and velcro together, so they are easy to get on and off, but I don't think he ever managed to really get his thumbs in the thumb hole, they were just flappers. We used some mitts from Costco, I think they were Kombi (youth XXS), but similar idea, long and zippered up so we could help get his hand in there, but they seemed to fall off sometimes, so I asked them what they recommended. Turns out they use packing tape to tape them on the kids jackets so they stay on. Worked for us.
Hope it helps a bit.

two words...velcro straps....

think you can pick these up from $ stores and use them with any gloves...there is no way you can get them off once the gloves are on...
