The price is good but be aware of Nikon Canada's Warranty
"If you purchase Nikon branded photographic or digital imaging product from anyone other than an authorized Nikon Canada dealer, beware that Nikon Canada does not, and will not, provide parts, repair services, warranty service or technical support for any such product" http://nikon.ca/en/GreyMarket.aspx

I guess on the title of this website is written: Canada's largest bargain....
If I'am going to see another deal from another country, I am going to delete my profile and never come to visit this website. I am not interested in forwarding packages or going there and end up paying more than I would pay here in Canada. Not interesting for 99% of the readers of this forum since we cannot do even price-matching...
Or should I start posting deals from my trips in US/ Europe as well ?
Deals from Netherlands sound ok ?
Mods, how about making a section/ tab where all the people leaving near the border can go and post/ watch whatever US deal they want? Might be the
Detroit, Buffalo and Seattle goers can go there and make an exchange of experience...and leave us, the average remote Canadians deal with our country-deals in peace and without frustration since everybody knows already that everything is cheaper in US. Where is the news I ask ?

The OP did display an American flag icon in his post and also stated that the deal was for Costco USA, im not sure what else the original poster could've done to not frustrate you.

In canada the cheapest you'll find it is $1040. I think this is a pretty good deal although the lack of warranty makes me a bit wary. Worse comes to worst, you can ship it to the states for repair.

Or you can do yourself a favor. When you see a US flag on the title, Ignore the thread. Other people may find this US deal useful.

Wow. Off to a great start at RFD. 35 posts, and this attitude already? Not to mention that at least 5 of the posts are thank yous from the Staples Coupon thread, meaning you've saved a bunch of money already from nice people posting things on this forum. Not surprisingly, I don't see any coupon contributions from your account. Not only do you not contribute, you have leeched at least five coupons from the site. Classy.

My dear fellow, what's that ? Personal vendetta? Are you inquiring about myself ? Do you have any other questions? I'll be answering you gladly: if I used 5 coupons, I thanked for them, I never used a single one without saying thank you.../ for most of the coupons used, I bet, nobody says anything...and after that what is that, a reproach? on a forum? (you sound exactly like my ex); if I would have had any, I would have given them, don't worry: you don't know me, but honesty, honour and integrity are things I value most. When I posted what I posted I did not target in any way anyone: only the habit of posting deals from another country: can you imagine the amount of deals I can post from hundreds of american websites where almost everything is cheaper than here ? what about e-bay ? Should we post the incredible deals from China ?
Moreover, mind you all, I never did nor tolerate personal attacks: I was discussing about a principle/ habit on this website, not pointing fingers at the persons involved...

I've purchased stuff from all around our planet (one example: DX).
I've payed for the shipping/exchange/brokage.
Nothing wrong with purchasing stuff from different parts of the planet, especially if you can get a deal (but I do believing fair trade "workers are treated fairly").
Someone had to import that computer you're using to post your comment.

Yes, you are perfectly right. Me too, I purchased from all over the world (including that deal extreme you mention). I am happy with the international postings and merchandise but,...THEY HAVE TO BE ACCESIBLE TO EVERYONE.. since they are on "the national display" the DEALS SHOULD BE AVAILABLE TO 100% of the Canadian READERS AT ANYTIME (or for the time that deal is valid). Deals like that, are good for the people who live on the border and/ or cross daily in US. What about the rest of us ? This deals are exactly like those deals where somebody sees in I don't know which store on I don't know which shelf I don't know which liquidation product(s). Very limited. Hapennings. Incidental.
I can write on this front page forum incredible deals for new, cheap and/ or innovative products from ebay (" Buy it now" products). Much better even than those ones from US. Even if you might wait 2 -3 weeks, with shipping, customs, the price is excellent and everybody is welcome to buy. Do I do it ? No.
Why? I bet redflagdeals business mods would not be happy and might be even the users since there is a small risk and as with US deals, ...most probably no warranty...moreover, I have a life, I surely don't have time to write thousands of posts here unless I get a salary....

I don't agree that 100% of Canadians have to have access to a deal before it can get posted on this website... what about all the GTA only deals and GVA deals, should those deals not be posted? Also everyone from the GTA are only 2 hours away from the border while the GVA population is within an hour.. you're looking at least 9+ million people(I didn't even include all the cities in Canada that border or live close to the border ie Niagara Falls, Windsor, Hamilton, London etc.) that could hop on this deal.
Why should this deal not be posted if 1/3 of the population can redeem it?

patrician:
Take it easy. There are lots of deals available only in GTA that I can't get but I don't cry about it. Most posters will identify in the thread topic with the location such as GTA, GVA/GVRD, etc.
Like actgear said, a large majority of the population can get this deal. Sure it's a U.S. deal but you can easily tell by the U.S. flag http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/images/icons/iconus.gif next to the post. If you don't want to view a U.S. deal then don't click on the thread.
What's next? Do you want RFD to stop posting contests/sweepstakes that are void in Quebec since you can't take advantage of those?
RFD is a great place for finding deals. I for one am very grateful for the deals and advice I have received from the forums.
Oh and to get back on topic, nice deal OP! Thanks! :)

if the deal doesn't apply to you, no one is forcing you to look at the threads.
if you don't like this website, no one is forcing you to stay either.
i don't know if you seriously believe what you say as you're contradicting yourself like crazy, but it doesn't matter.

THEY HAVE TO BE ACCESIBLE TO EVERYONE.. since they are on "the national display" the DEALS SHOULD BE AVAILABLE TO 100% of the Canadian READERS AT ANYTIME (or for the time that deal is valid).
If this is the case - i'd like all posts removed for LD, Safeway, Sobeys with sobeys points, Vision, Lowes, Superwallymarts etc etc because we don't have those stores in Eastern Canada.
I find it quite helpful to see the prices across the country, although not always accessible to myself here I am aware what the 'going rate' is! As for the US pricing and stores - with our $$ going so close to par again it's a great indication that Canadian pricing strategies will align with the US pricing again. If I was in the market for another new DLSR I would highly consider waiting if it had the potential to drop $400 to align with $USD pricing in the next month or so.

Thanks OP for the post. The U.S. flag should give anyone heads up that this is a U.S. deal. If you do not want to read it then don't. It is so simple.
Please stop dumping on OP for the sake of some of us who visit U.S. and appreciate posted deals.

This thread is funny. I love the part where patrician says DEALS SHOULD BE AVAILABLE TO 100% of the Canadian READERS AT ANYTIME and I thought I was a noob.
I'm not sure if this was ever covered but if you buy Costco gift cards in Canada you can save the exchange rate if you purchase in US and also use the gift cards to buy online.

And thanks the OP for the great post!
I am not happy with the up-coming HST in Ontario. I will try my BEST to spend as little as possible in Canada, and will get my cameras and many things from other places, like Hong Kong, the US, etc. And I would not mind filling the tank with cheaper gas from the states!
That may be all I can do to tell the gov that I am not happey with eHealth scandal, the new tax, and many other things happening in Canada. Yet still, all the trouble is well worth it as it is better for my wallet!

Doesn't Costco stuff have no manufacturer warranty?
Costco USA/Canada have an inhouse Concierge Warranty which provides 2-years of coverage. I'm not sure if the US version is valid in Canada, but you could probably take the item back to a USA store to claim the warranty.
But obviously with USA deals you sometimes have to compromise convenience for price :)
Did you drive down to get this deal or did you ship to an Amerifriend? Wouldn't it be great if Costco shipped to Canada?
I was in the US for the past couple weeks ... I just happened to be looking for a camera and stumbled across the deal.
