So, I have three weeks off in December and I want to plan a ski trip within North America.

Been to Whistler/Blackcomb last year and it was excellent. Dont plan to go there this year as I expect to be super expensive....

Any other places you recommend?

I am thinking Aspen, Colorado, how is that? I plan to flight to it and I hate to have to drive... it would be best if they have some kind of package that will arrange for bus pickup from airport to ski resort...

thx

Try Kicking Horse or Revelstoke.

OP...what is your level of skiing. I mentioned Kicking Horse but it's geared more for advanced to expert skiers. I've been skiing since I was 6, now 42 so I prefer resorts with large open bowls.

where are these resort located?

I have been snowboarding for a few years now, I go any slope except back country.... but in general, I like easy cruising with long slope...

Try Kicking Horse

Kicking horse was amazing - went heliskiing there as well which was INSANE. If you have an extra g to drop on 5 "runs of your life" then do not miss it

Hi everyone, I am taking a group to Whiteface, Gore Mountain and Killington this winter. I have never been to those places before. Anyone can give me a review on those places? Thank you kindly.

Killington was the worst ski trip I've ever taken (and I've taken many)

It was march break, there was ZERO snow (like green grass on the roads) and the accomodations weren't all that great (yet very expensive).

The weather certainly attributed, but I'd never go back there... I'd go to lake placid or something instead

Hey OP,

I just booked a trip to Whistler, 5 days 4 nights for about $760 all-in (i.e. taxes, flight, room, lift tickets, car rental), except for food. Not sure what you consider to be expensive but I thought that was an awesome deal for me. I'm going mid-December in case you were wondering.

I think mid-December's a hit or miss with snow, hence the low price. Last year around that time there was hardly any snow cover and a lot of my fave runs were closed or full of rocks/sticks/etc. I think that's why they make high season around Christmas time until April.

Interesting, I went to Killington last year close to the end of March and it was pretty decent (heck, anything is when you compare it to the mole hills we have out here...). Granted it was slightly warmer so the snow was slushy, but we had great weather the first day. Second day there was a huge dump of snow!!! Lots of runs to choose from and the terrain was interesting. Agreed that by that time of the year the snow cover was already melting; but there were still many runs that were fine.

There's the Burton Stash Park; a park with all natural features so that was interesting. Also check out Pico Mountain if you can; lift is included with your Killington lift. It's another mountain a short drive away and it has a bunch of runs. The atmosphere was definitely more laid back there, not as many punk kids.

Haven't been to Whiteface, but I've heard that the nickname is "Iceface".. so take it for what it's worth.

If you're in Vermont, check out Stowe as well. I went last yr around Easter so by then the snow was pretty slushy and I didn't have a great time. But it's one of the more favourably reviewed resorts in Vermont, so I definitely want to check it out this year again.

I would if there was a link. I actually just pieced together the trip on my own after monitoring prices. Whistler is having an early booking sale right now that's pretty cheap. Just call their reservation # and ask for the best deal. It doesn't have to be the packages you see on their site.

I lucked out on the airfare and booked when West Jet was having a seat sale. Got return trip from YYZ to YVR for $350 taxes in. I also looked up coupon codes to book a Prius at YVR for the duration of our trip for only $100.

We're not staying at the Fairmont but for 3 guys chasing snow, we don't care where we sleep. At least our room has a full kitchen so we can go super cheap and make our own meals if we want.

Yeah I've heard about Iceface too. LOL. However everyone will want to go down the slopes of 1980 Winter Olympics. I know I do! And I also heard of good reviews for Killington and Stowe. I am going to those slopes this winter. FXB EVENTS is organizing those trips this winter for very reasonable rate.

So $300 covered your room & lift ticket for 5 days 4 nights? Not bad at all!
