View Full Version : Where can I take my GF for her Bday in GTA??

I've been trying to think of something to do with my gf for her birthday. Around GTA is good, but I'm willing to drive as well if the experience is worth it. We're not the type of couple who would be content renting a cottage to 'relax' in, we want stuff to do.
Can anyone make any suggestions? Last year I took her to see Dirty Dancing & Dinner & a hotel in Toronto, and she really enjoyed that, but I want to do something new this year... I just don't know of anywhere in the area to check out. Anything fun, or romantic would be great.
Thanks for anyone who has any ideas! I've been thinking for weeks, but haven't come up with anything really great so far.
Oh and as far as a price range... $500 or less taxes in is what I'm aiming for.

Guess Niagara Falls is out of the question.
You could do Montreal.

One thing I've done in the past is a private plane ride. It's about half hour long, take off at porter airport. takes you around downtown toronto. Cost is about 100$
It's def nice up there.

I had a great time taking a hands-on chocolate making class last year. The one I took was through JS Bonbons, which is no longer in business, but the class at Stubbe (http://www.stubbechocolates.com/classes.html) is supposed to be quite similar. It's really fun to do together, you learn a lot, and you get to take all your homemade gourmet truffles back to the hotel with you. So, yeah, a fun and romantic night :). The only problem I see is that the next two possible dates are on weeknights, which may not be ideal.

This is a great idea, or you could go to Zanzibar on Yonge if you want something different!

i've never been, but from what im told you are being served by a blind person and will tell you where things are on the table. Orders are taken in another room where its lit. You already know what youre expecting to eat but theres an extra item prepared by the chef.

oh wow i've heard of restaurants like o.noir! (saw something about it on the food network) and i'll def check it out...however even though it's legit and all i'd still be a little bit uneasy eating in the dark! haha
if anyone's been there (or somewhere like it) please share your experience!

O.Noir was an interesting experience. Can't say I particularly enjoyed eating in the complete darkness as it was a little difficult finding where everything was, like water, utensils, food, etc. I also remember having some trouble spreading butter onto my roll because the butter kept falling off my knife and I didn't know until later, and that kept happening throughout dinner. With that said, I'd still recommend people to go give it a try because it is quite the different experience and the food was actually better than I expected.

Since you are planning on going to Distillery District for the segway thing you might want to check out Jamie Kennedy's cafe for a casual meal or snack. Gilead Cafe...
As for O'Noir, a friend brought me for my birthday and it was a pretty interesting suprise. Personally, I might bring someone who has never been but the food wasn't "worth" the money. You are really paying for the experience. It is a shame because they could do a bit better with the food. Having said that, go in with low expectations and I think it is worth trying for the experience. (you only get a "surprise" dish if you request one..... I suggest the tenderloin as it was pretty decent
