I'm referring to PVRs interchangeably with devices like the AppleTV and WDTV and O!Play. It seems these devices are cropping up more and more.

I don't really care for modern shows so I've taken to downloading shows from my child hood like Mr. Bean, Cheers, Nightcourt. I'll throw them on my NAS and watch them occasionally but I still have cable other things.

Anyway, I'm just curous how many have bought a media center type of device. Seems like it is the thing to have so I imagine people are going to buy one like it's going out of style? I also store my music and movie collection so that's also something a PVR cannot do. It's taking over the PVR in a way almost. I just wonder how long before someone comes out with software updates to make these record tv shows.

I have one, a moto box from Shaw.

I don't think that computers will replace pvrs anytime soon. The typical person can barely read email on a computer, yet stand-alone PVRs are very easy to use. With a remote control.

+1 I have an hdpvr through shaw. It does the trick.

I also have a popcorn hour if I want to play files from other sources.
