Vinnie Mac is getting no love this week. First his wife resigns as CEO to run for senate and now Shane resigns as VP.

i guess it's no surprise.
Vince is truely forgetting what made his product what it is today. The Attitude era (1997/1998-2001) is when they really hit their peak and what made them a successful company, but now Vince is getting away from all that by making predictable storylines, same old feuds, HHH always in the spotlight, etc.
I still watch WWE from time to time, i usually watch RAW and DVR Smackdown, but it's not the same as it use to be.
I remember i use to watch RAW on Monday and WCW Nitro use to come on Tuesday on TSN. Loved the whole Monday Night War thing.

yeah notice how Stephanie McMahon and Triple H aren't going anywhere... Triple H is pretty much the kingpin of the WWE these days and beyond..
I hope this empire collapses on them when Vince dies. The product has been complete garbage since they screwed up the WCW/ECW takeover.

I'd agree with that. The two times i've enjoyed watching wrestling was when I was a kid (classic 80's wwwf) and the attitude era. When stone cold, mick foley, the rock all left it wasn't the same. It was Triple H all the time, it got very boring. They started doing stuff I hated on WCW (making matches so long they required commercial breaks in the middle of them).
Haven't watched wrestling in years now. I held on for a while, but officially gave up the day they brought in goldberg.. couldn't stand that guy.

kinda OT but Jerry Lawler is running for mayor of Memphis :D
oh yeah, WWE sucks. I stopped watching it in 2002. They really screwed up the WCW invasion angle back then.

Alright, if this isn't a "work" then it still doesn't mean anything good. Remember when WWF put the Billy & Chuck wedding on national talk shows and even gained support from GLADD...until the whole prank was exposed on pay per view?
Whatever.
I'm inclined to believe WWF revenues are predicted to drop and these jokers want a golden parachute before company stocks crash. Who cares.

+1.
I remember staying up "late" (at the time) Monday night watching the entire Raw on mute, so my mom wouldn't know we were up  I'd then catch the Tuesday afternoon repeat on TSN.
And yeah, WWF games were amazing...WWF Attitude for PS1 was legendary. Probably one of the best games, ever.

It got stale when The Rock left and then there was the HHH 8 month title reign where he "buried" the top stars of the WWF/E.
At least we have a wrestling alternative (TNA).

I haven't watched wrestling 'regularly' in a while. I do watch from time to time (as in I can figure out what the feuds are and etc.....). My cousins do watch it a lot and so I do know quite a bit.
Everyone's argument is just as messed as when Vince screwed the Invasion angle.
Its the same complaint for the last 6 years from all the posters above. I doubt they are making the same money they would have made in the Attitude era but they are still making a lot. I believe there biggest star is John Cena. He is no stone cold but his target market is kids and thats why we have lost interest but the 'new' wrestling market is children...not adults. Yes, you want adults in the market but the majority (18-35) have moved on to MMA. Times are changing and WWE has evolved to try and maximize their market.
Also the HHH comment is a failed argument. Yes, he does get top billing but he is no longer the TOP DOG. WWE has semi pass the torch onto wrestlers like Randy Orton, Edge, CM Punk, Jeff Hardy and new upcomers like Legacy.
Everyone above is living in the past and can't let things go. Thats one of the main issues with wrestling. The old fanbase just can't let go and move on. The Attitude era, ECW and all those things were great but they wouldn't work nowadays for multiple reasons. The first being the drug policy in the WWE. Do you think wrestlers back then were clean from doing all those crazy things like thumbtacks 24/7, jumping off later days twice a week, etc...?

I don't ever remember him "pushing" the wrestlers you mentioned. He buried Orton on so many occasions. I haven't seen him lose cleanly to anyone. =/

Behind the scenes he is married into the McMahon family and pulls all the strings with the booking staff he sees fit.. Just because he doesn't always carry the title and feature in the main event doesn't take away how much power and sway he has in the company.. It has been evident in this decade the WWE has declined with him at the creative helm and many angles involve him burying stars to further his legacy nobody really cares about.. King of Kings my ass... His legacy was just forced down the throats of fans, he is one of the many reasons former fans like myself stopped watching.

these were the times when wrestling was good!
That was kind of thing after Mankind's hell in a cell match with the undertaker. That the wrestlers could get hurt, and allthough it was orchestrated, something crazy might still happen.
Those Rock/Mankind matches were great (end of 99 I think). The ladder matches between varous wrestlers were awesome.
Even the Vince/Stone Cold steel cage match was awesome.. the CEO was taking bumps off the top of the cage.
How do they ever top that area? I don't think they can and have gone back to targetting a younger audience.
It was enjoyable while it lasted.

oh yeah, WWE sucks. I stopped watching it in 2002. They really screwed up the WCW invasion angle back then.
yup.. it ruined everything.. ratings and all that crap.. dunno how u do invasion angle without hogan, nash, hall, flair, goldberg.. yet once the angle dies...u bring those guys in anyway.. just terrible..
ive been really on and off in wrestling.. i watched hardcore back until wrestlemania 18 here in toronto in 2002.. then i barely watched that much but still went to events like summer slam 2004 here... unforgiven 2006 here... and id say i have been watching more since about the start of 2008 just because jericho came back and edge was around... those guys own.. now i usually watch raw every week but i pvr it and it only takes like 25 min to watch lol...
but i still order almost every ppv with like 8 buddies of mine... so ya.. since 2008 i have gotten back into it.. i was never out of it totally.. i would watch here and there but i could not tell u anything or any sort of ppv history and such from 2002 - 2007.. whereas if u ask me about late 80s early 90s ppv stuff, i can tell u anything and everything lol...
you know what sucks the most? is that the WWE is making the most money it has EVER made in terms of profit in 2008 and so far in 2009...a lot more money than they made during attitude era... so its hard for us to hope vince fixes the product when he is making more money than ever!

Ya I stopped watching WWE a long long time ago too. I use to go to a lot of local indy shows in the GTA but even that has kind've dove off the radar for me. The only wrestling thing that interests me is when Ring of Honor comes to town. The last time I went was this past summer when they were at the Beaches and had Bret Hart do a speech, Lance Storm involved in a great tag match and a surprise appearance of D-Lo Brown, plus all the regular ROH guys including some good canucks. All the top ROH guys head off to WWE or TNA at some point like CM Punk did, WWE just grabbed Nigel McGuinness and the American Dragon Bryan Danielson.
I highly recommend you guys check out Ring of Honor when they come to Mississauga on Nov 14th at the International Centre. Tickets are $20 for close to ringside and $10 for general admission. Japanese sensation KENTA will be there so that will be a treat.
