DPI help for Canon

Hey

I am just wondering if i could raise my dpi setting from 72 on my canon rebel xs? I don't really wanna raise it post shooting on my photoshop. Looked online and in my manual but cant really find anything. Thanks:(

not quite sure what you mean by 72dpi because IIRC standard is 240 with canon. really you should be looking at the full resolution of the file rather than dpi (ie. 5616x3744 in my case).

DPI = dots per inch.

It is the measure of spatial printing or video dot density, in particular the number of individual dots that can be placed within the span of one linear inch (2.54 cm). The DPI value tends to correlate with image resolution, but is related only indirectly.

Photoshop by default will always set everything to 72 dpi when saving, it is up to you the user to change that value if you wish to print it.

Camera resolution and DPI are entirely two different things. The only time you really need to worry about DPI is when you are printing. That said, your computer monitor doesn't care about DPI. "It" doesn't know what an inch is. It only cares about pixels.
