View Full Version : Best sites to watch t.v. episodes free????

Hi all. Tried doing a search on this topic but it kept coming up with nothing. I was hoping some members could tell me what sites are the best for watching free t.v. episodes? I used to have a fantastic list, but somehow got deleted from my comp. I'd really appreciate some tried and true site feedback. I'm currently without cable for the next week until they come and hook it up, so I'm scrambling to find my fav. shows online.

I should edit this and ad that I'd like sites that us Canadians are able to view!

Thanks in advance!

Well if CTV or Global has the shows, you can find it on there websites, usually the best quality.

i'm so pissed that some streaming videos of tv shows are only good if you are in the US, like Hulu and some ABC streaming tv shows.

Do you just stream, or do you download.

I tried downloading and got a very small .flv file. The file took litterally 5 seconds to dl. Is the download legit? I can't imagine a whole show only takin 5 seconds. I scanned the file and there aren't ant viruses, I'm just suspect now.

Use a proxy to get around that... I use Hotspot Shield, which is free ;) http://hotspotshield.com/

I did HotSpotSheild but then my computer started becoming really slow and acted a bit weird, so I took it out and my computer is fine now. I usualy just go to the network sites, they have most of the shows I watch like Global anyways.

Ninja Video is the ONLY site that matters. I have no idea about these other sites, but there is no way they can top ninjavideo.

Why would you need to? The flash video quality is just as good or better than xvid/divx. No need to waste bandwidth.

You'd be surprised how far flash video has advanced. The quality is on-par with any offline xvid/divx file.

You know hulu at least is legit versus other streaming sites.

So you retract your statement that Hulu is better quality than Ninja?

Good. Carrying on.

?

Never retracted anything. I still stand by the fact that flash video is just as good or better divx/xvid, but the advantage is less bandwidth.

Try hulu and see for yourself.

most of the stuff on the sites are hosted on megaupload servers, but I can only wait about 1 hour of video at a time. How do you guys get around that?

most of these website will be down in a year.
I'm sure new ones will pop up.

I got one word for you: Bittorrent...

Learn what it is and how to use it (clients, trackers, etc).
The downside is you have to download the files first and then watch (maybe extract too).

You wont look back at these over-compressed poor quality stream sites until maybe Hulu is available in Canada. Even that is debatable tho.

Have fun.

Thanks to everyone for Ninja Video. Been catching up on Dexter since I kept forgetting about it and no need to wait for it to finish downloading. But I can never get the DivX mirrors to work, only Flash. Is the DivX quality a lot better?

Huh? Was that sarcasm?
Or you seriously trying to argue that some streaming-video websites from china that pop-up and disappear overnight is superior to bittorrent and the trackers????

You just said that you can't get DivX to work on these streaming websites. Do you ever get half of the streaming sites to work properly at all? When they're busy? Do you have to click on different parts of the movie to continue watching it?
You do realize where those sites obtain their material? Hint: starts with "Bit" and ends in "torrent". You do realize then they have to over-compress the sound/video to minimize bandwidth usage? Guess what? By the time the movie/show hits these streaming websites, its been hours or even days since it became available on bittorrent (not to mention the actual distros).

I bet your superficial experience with bittorrent is through piratebay or ******** or some other public tracker. I bet you got lost as soon as you saw an archived file.

I don't think you have much experience with torrenting as you don't seem to appreciate it when compared to some inferior over-compressed video-streaming websites, which will go be shutdown every other week. Sounds like you don't know much about bittorrent, not to mention the whole piracy scene and the whole world of possibilities.

So please, keep your sarcastic comments to yourself.

PS. Why does the word mini-nova get all starred out (****) like that above???? Why are the mods censoring this word?

I'm currently using hotspot to watch hulu as we speak.
I've noticed that some times it'll be blocked with certain ip's that it uses, but others work just fine.

LOL... you are a jest, sir...
Why would you take us 10 years back? Streaming video is at least that old. Oh and it's still as crappy and overcompressed as it always was. Thanks for a history lesson, pal... it brings some not-so-fond memories... remember RealMedia player?

Oh also its funny you mentioned newsgroups... they are alive and kicking. But just like fight club, you're not suppose to talk about newsgroups (NNTP, not Google Groups).

Lemmy guess, next you gonna bash plain ol' FTP? You'd be surprised what you can find on them if you know where to look or been around the 'scene long enough.

PS. When I say BitTorrent, I refer to the protocol and not the client. The fact you mention bitcommet (client) tells me you can't tell a difference between the two concepts. Do some reading, "smart guy", you'd be surprised what you might learn...
PPS. Don't bother replying, I do not plan to follow up on this thread. So, please, continue watching your overcompressed videos from streaming websites along with porn pop-ups and banners.

I understand this thread is about online streaming video (at least the title implies it), but it's surprising that people are criticizing bittorrent. Quality-wise, you can't beat it. And you can't make fun of newsgroups either - there's a whole other world out there that people who casually 'surf the net' have no clue about.

But as for online streaming... it's a helpful thread.

DivX (ninjavideo) >>>>>>>>>>>>VHS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Online .flv/Flash video

I used to rely completely on bittorrent, but realized that ninjavideo's quality is exactly the same. It uses the same encoding as the bittorrent releases and is the same filesize (not definitive, but still helpful).

+1 streaming may be convenient but the quality is just not there. I prefer dl'ing the 720p (about 1.2gb for a 45min ... err 1hr show). Full 720p with 5.1 DD audio. Go get that over a stream, YouTube HD doesn't even feed 5.1.

+1 on the pict quality on streaming vids. Sometimes it can be quite pixelated other times it is worse than old analog cable.

i don't want to dload as i just watch it once and then forget about it. no point in wasting hd space on a watch once show.
