I pulled my hamstring from playing ball this past Saturday, now its all bruised up. aside from resting and icing it, are there anything else i could do to have it healed faster? and how long do i have to rest it for so that it won't become a nagging injury.

How much bruising? If there is bruising, there's a good chance you tore it, which you should go to physio for.

If it's just pulled, just rest for a few days, then slowly stretch it. It won't be nagging and will be fine in a couple weeks. I pull my hamstrings almost every year.

keep stretching it and make sure you do a little jog before stretching (just to warm it up). It won't be nagging you down like a groin injury but you also dont' want it to reoccur too often

Time, good nutrition, stretching, adequate sleep, low stress, and myofacial massage will do wonders. I would recommend you do self-massage or get paid massage therapy to "tease out" the injury. Torn soft-tissues heal in an irregular manner (i.e. think of a web), and as such physical therapy (i.e. stretching and controlled exercises such as hamstring curls with low to moderate weight with massage) shortly after the injury is healing will force the healing tissues to re-align tissue/muscle fibers in the appropriate direction (i.e linear). This is one of the key points for physical therapy immediately after tissue injuries.
