Hello guys,
just wondering what I can do to lesson the impact of lactic acid build up after playing ice hockey?

I am generally in good athletic condition, but do not do as much aerobic activity as I should. I just starting playing ice hockey again, and for about a day, there was a hoarseness to my laughing and cough, which I believe is from the lactic build up directly after playing hockey.

I believe some people go on a stationary bike immediately after to help but I don't own one, nor am I in the position to purchase one. I do, however, own a treadmill. Will running on a treadmill help? Anything else I should know?

Since it was my first time in a while, I expect it to get better as I continue, however, I'd like to speed it up and help my conditioning.

Thanks!!

Do non-impact cardio at a lower intensity. The Heart uses lactic acid as a substate and burns it up.

I heard that professional hockey players will ride a bike for 1/2 to an hour after a game to burn up lactic acid.

Walking on treadmill will work just as well.

You don't need to run on it. Just keep moving and STRETCH post-exercise. That will stop your DOMS from kicking in as well.
