Great game! Some levels are maddeningly difficult... got it on the Wii, it's FANTASTIC with the Wiimote. I don't think I could 'go back' to using a mouse on the PC version. Get the Wii version if you have one.

Great game.

Finished it and ran through it again to get the 300 goo balls to try and make the epic tower.

Paid $5 way back when on steam special, worth every penny.

XLNT game and what a deal.
I found the PC version easier myself. (my tower was 30 meters; not a record but still...)
The kids loved it too.

The deal is only for PC/Mac/Linux, not Wii version.

I tried to buy it for 1$USD and after the paypal payment went through, the 2dboy server timed out and I've yet to receive my download e-mail.

I'd suggest waiting a bit before trying to buy the game.

No, it cannot. If you're curious to know what games can be registered, click here (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601#which).

Can we get the Wii version for 1 cent? Looks like just the downloadable PC/Mac/Linux version is available for this promotion?

No, just the PC/Mac/Linux versions. Nintendo is unlikely to put anything on sale, EVER, because well, they're Nintendo and they just don't do that. :p

It would take a real goo filled slime ball to pay only 1¢ for this. They're probably losing money on the transaction cost.

That's the risk they take with a pay what you will scenario. Some will pay as little as possible, some will pay more than retail. It doesn't make you a goo filled slime ball to pay less -- those that feel that way will be guilted into paying more anyway. :p

With the credit card processing fee, they would lose less if you just pirated the game. It's like going to a restaurant, leaving an AOL free trial CD as a tip, then breaking a glass which gets deducted from the waiter's pay check.

NO where close to RFD effect. This is on every website already.

And dammit I just made a topic. I could've sworn there was nothing on this yet x.x

Edit: No you cannot tie it to steam. The game has no DRM by the way.

One of the best games I've played in a long time. Maybe cuz of it's simplicity in design and creativity.

I would have easily paid at least $20-30 for this game and still consider it worth it. So for 1 cent or $1, it's a steal.

I'm a fan of Burton movies with Elfman scores, so part of this game's appeal is how "sympatico" this is with those movies. Especially the music (which is excellent) just REEKS of Danny Elfman.

Pretty much same situation here. Could have pirated it faster, oh well.

After the PayPal process I clicked the button to go back to the 2DBoy web page but it kept timing out, and then I accidentally closed the tab so I lost that link... I'm hoping that link (thankyouiloveyousomething) wasn't the only opportunity to download the game.

Same for me. Timed out after paypal, never got my e-mail. I tried to use their "re-mailer" bot on their site and that was failing too. Our best bet is to wait for the server load to go down and retry the re-mailer bot.

There is a good possibility that the RFD effect + others (online deal, available worldwide...) are the reason for the site going down. Sure hope people here refrain from pirating small dev games. The big developers aren't going to give us anything innovative, and if the small devs don't get supported then we've got nuthin.

Yeah, we bought this a while ago on a Steam sale. It's definitely worth the $5.

I hope most of you are actually donating a bit of money to the developers; we want to encourage these quality titles, and help fund more in the future. Title for this thread irks me a bit.

What can you expect? One thing I learned is that there are always going to be cut-throat deal hunters here. No matter what the cost is to other people, it's themselves first (RE: MSDNAA fakers? Real students got ******?). Unfortunately that's the selfish reality: the cheapest legal way is what (a lot of) people want!

$0.30 per donation and 2.9% of the donated amount for both credit card and eCheck transactions
Even lower percentages (2.5%) are available for organizations taking in more than $3000 per month

Mac games are rare, especially good ones that aren't either super late being released or insanely overpriced.

In case anyone is having problems with the Mac game/demo, I had to go to my downloads folder and manually open it there for it to work. No biggie though.

Got the links after a bit... but be careful. Some of my download attempts were lightning fast, and then I realized it was only downloading about 1% of the full package.

same here first time only downloaded about 400 Kb s then I tried again and it was fine.

Got the d/l email as soon as I placed the order, d/ling now. Yeah running dual monitor 64 bit Win7 takes a while for the dual screens to work, but it does.

Maybe the speed of the download (and time to send download email) is proportional to the donation you make? ;)

Ordered 2x earlier tonight, got the receipts but no download links yet.

I'm sure they'll make things right.

Anyone that hasn't played this yet owes it to themselves to get it for at least $10 donation.

Remember, your donation buys you the Windows version now, and the Mac one too so you can play it on your next computer!

I'm surprised the Windows trolls haven't said anything yet... :-)

For those haven't got the link, you can try send them an email. That's what I did and I got the link. Anyway, I donated $5 and I think I will put in a little more late. I don't mind ripping off big chain corporate stores but for small developers who gives such a nice offer and high quality product(s), they deserve our support.

Thanks OP,
Please change the title to something like "World of the Goo - pay what you want" instead of 1 cent. Otherwise the title is promoting getting this game for 1 c - and I think we all agreed that it is not sufficient amount - although everyone should make own decision about the actual donation amount.:)

I did two, one as a gift and one for myself. Noticed that the jerks at Paypal totally overcharged on the exchange rate ($10.97 for a $10 donation) so I got wise for the second time and gave $9.11 USD which I figured would work out to $10 CDN. Didn't work though, turns out Paypal also gouges in the other direction! In the end Kyle and Ron will get ~$20 which is pretty fair for a triple-platform game including gift copy.

I'll gladly spend my dollars with any publisher that thumbs their nose at DRM.

By the way, I noticed my download link had my name coded into it. So if someone is abusing a link, it should be obvious who it was....

2D Boy Confirmed that they do not get any money for sales of $0.30 or less because PayPal takes it all. So please donate around $1 or so at least. The average sale price seems to be $2.03.

From the developers themselves:
The birthday sale has been a huge success so far, and because of that, we are extending our little experiment/celebration until sunday, October 25

The devs seem happy with their model so don't feel too bad of the $2 average. With over 50k sales with a $2 average, they've made somewhere around $100,000 (not shabby)
